Quote
Ralph Shortey, a former Oklahoma state senator and county campaign coordinator for President Donald Trumpís campaign last year, will plead guilty to a child sex trafficking charge after being accused of soliciting sex from a 17-year-old boy in March.

In exchange for his guilty plea, government prosecutors have agreed to drop three counts of child pornography against him.

Shortey is scheduled to plead guilty on November 30, two weeks before his trial was set to commence on December 5. Sex trafficking of a minor carries a minimum sentence of 10 years in prison, but Shortey could be sent to life in prison for the offense at a sentencing hearing in early 2018.

I find this line of reasoning distasteful and tedious.

Let's be frank, we both know the technical and logistical benefits of the club. And Cosh. Or even the humble blackjack. That isn't the point with these kinds of cases. Hell, the romans didn't crucify every uppity jew, did they?. But sometimes, examples need to be made. Creative examples. Examples that let the rest of them know where the land lies and how shit is going to be. The club accomplishes this, yes, but it is literally a blunt tool. Special cases require special attention and methods.

And in these kinds of cases, where the holy name of comedy has been defiled beyond any kind of reasonable measure and sanity, I ask you: Is it not just that they should be staked upon the sands, covered in snakes that have been injected with meth and then introducing a flock of equally drugged secretary birds into the situation? Is there ever going to be a surer sign of the end of the worship of the redundant stupid times and full embrace on a societal level of the strange times?

... despite having no discernible leadership qualities, like good policies, common sense or charisma.

Sigh, she was perfect for leading the tories.

So what exactly was she doing? I've seen mention of "foreign aid to assist in combat operations in golan heights" which to me sounds like an illegal arms deal.

To my understanding, no-one's quite sure. Direct questions are being avoided. Which is a surprise.

Also worth noting she's been replaced on the same day. Which is either a planned sacking or quick decision promotion. Or both. Regardless it doesn't bode well for this government as a long term entity. Which has longer term implications around the brexit negotiations. A government collapse prior and replacement with some kind of labour coalition, or even another tory coalition effectively resets any progress that might have been made. Assuming there is any to actually speak of. The exit date remains fixed so it becomes an increasingly impossible task to deal with.

The next bout of elections could be most amusing. Trying to get elected yet remaining away from power due to it essentially being some kind of poisoned chalice.

On the contrary, simple things will work for most, but some people need creative examples made out of them.

Welp, my uncle died of liver cancer on Monday. That makes three of my uncles that have died this way. I need a free frozen yogurt or something.

I got nothing. But it's surprising how often I've been able to say this lately.

Sorry man. And keep an eye on your liver I guess.

Oh that list is gold.

"Liam fox - Adam Werrity".  :lulz:

And Will Wragg.  :lulz:

Can't wait for the lists from other parties.

Labour "Actual communist".
Greens "Has prop of Dr. Strangelove bomb at home. Rides it shouting yahoo."
Ukip "has no swastika tattoos, anywhere."
Lib-dem "Spends off hours beating kittens with rakes".
SNP "Secretly English".
DUP "IRA member. Active."

All these and more will look sensible and mundane by the time this is done.

So are we doing the "UK politicians raping everything" in this thread or a new one?

Same question to the "UK corrupt as fuck for tax evasion" thing.

Also for the record, Fallon, the "Ultra reliable" defence minister gone from government over various allegations and being unable to say how/what many more may yet still come. "Deputy PM" also facing allegations, not gone.... yet.

It's really not about "if" this government collapses anymore, it's a "when". And that When basically comes to 3 categories:

1 - Quick collapse before any solid deal

2 - Slow collapse leading up to or after a deal or no deal is confirmed.

3 - After the official exit date in March.

Bookies not giving good odds on option 3. A couple more resignations and bits of bad news and the odds of 2 are also going to suffer. When the next bit of grenfell news drops, woe betide may if this crap is still in the news.

Who are the contenders for a prison term?

Nowadays, pretty much everyone. A couple are going to need to be pilloried and sacrificed so the rest can nod seriously and talk about how everything is now different. Personally, I've got a fiver on Green (Deputy PM) as it just seems inevitable.

My only genuine trepidation that if I start punching I may never stop.

But would you want to?

It's less a question of want than say, need.

For example, If I ever got hold of Adam Sandler I would never want to stop punching him in the face, but after my fists are a bloody pulp I will need to. To start kicking.

I have more graphic examples but they involve ben stiller and I suspect that they could be used against me as evidence at some point in the future. Let's just say it involves secretary birds, snakes and Frank Zappa.

"Supposed" has nothing to do with politics as practiced.  A party outsider was never going to beat a party insider, that's the way parties work and why they exist (except the Republicans, because they're stupid like that).  If anyone seriously thought an insurgent candidate was going to win the primaries against someone who: was married to a previous and very popular President, who was a senator for the party, who did a lot of fundraising work for the party, had worked at Cabinet level in another Democratic Presidential team and had put in a good showing against a quite popular candidate in the 2008 primary, they needed to get their head checked.

Sanders was all about pushing the Democratic message leftward, until some people got hopped up on Berniementum and lost sight of reality.

Oh, and Sanders' campaign was run by Tad Devine, someone with close links to Paul Manafort, Trump's one-time campaign manager.  So there was always a suspicion that his candidacy was a ratfuck operation among informed party members (I'm not so convinced, but there is some emerging evidence to suggest at least part of Sanders online campaign was being disseminated and pushed by people with that kind of an agenda...the notorious H. A. Goodman, for example, was a Rand Paul supporter before his conversion to Sanders).

This is a reasonable and logical reply to an entitiy incaple of understanding it.

Some of those THINGS that happened include:

One candidate talking about grabbing women by their genitalia. The same candidate also demonstrated a total lack of knowledge on the USA's nuclear arsenal. Either of those things would have killed a conventional candidacy overnight.

By "Conventional" I mean one where everyone around the candidate isn't committing crimes and meeting with foreign officials pretty much all of the fucking time.

An election campaign adviser to Donald Trump has pleaded guilty to lying to the FBI about the timing of meetings with alleged go-betweens for Russia.
George Papadopoulos admitted the talks happened while he worked for Mr Trump, not before, court papers show.
He said he had been told the Russians possessed "dirt" on Hillary Clinton.
Separately, former Trump campaign manager Paul Manafort pleaded not guilty to charges of money laundering unrelated to the 2016 election.

Is any commentary needed at this point?

Oh, please, do tell me more because I know nothing of cryptocurrencies. At all.

Perhaps you have an informative youtube link or zerohedge article for us?

How is cryptocurrency not fiat currency?

Many have a limited supply, so they can't print more.

Counterfeiting is pretty much impossible, or very cost prohibitive at the least

My ass has a limited supply, so they can't print more.

Yet I cannot use my poop as money.  It seems unfair.

haha it does seem unfair :P

Really the only thing that gives anything value is that people agree it is valuable. This is true of Fiat, Gold, Diamonds, Bitcoin, etc.

Or, you know, actual value. For example potable water on an island is very valuable. You can choose not to agree, but only one of us will die of dehydration.

"Value" is very situational and can change very quickly with an event or two. Yet paradoxically, Bitcoin will always remain worthless.
