Do I get to call you racist now? Even if you didn't mean it in that way?

Finns are a race?  Who knew?

Ah, sorry. Xenophobic would be the word I meant, or even more specifically maybe just "prejudiced against a certain nationality", or something along those lines. Doesn't change much of the point there, but well yeah.

I'm not xenophobic.  I just hate foreigners.

I don't think your hate was unclear for anyone here.  :lulz:

Alty and 000 have a point here, but so does Dalekk. Personally I've learned a lot of useful and inspiring stuff from this community, but it seems to me that people have to be very careful with what they post unless they are in the inner circle or otherwise already have a few oldfag friends to defend them if they make a single "mistake" in the way they think.
Either that, or they have to have a good sense of humor about themselves and the things they think they believe.

Also, supposing I'm in the "inner circle", I still gotta be damn careful what I post because when I post dumb shit (really dumb shit) people will shit all over me! It's more like an "inner sphincter", in that regard.

Stop dragging facts into a perfectly good rant about the tyrannical "oldfags".

By the way, +10,000 points to Herring Martinique for yet another vicious homophobic slur!

Sorry, should've thought twice before using that. :weary: But is "oldfag" even a pejorative? I don't think it really applies any negative effects to the LGBT people, or anyone else for that matter. Not native speaker, though. (Instead, bisexual myself. I know, perhaps A. I'm just saying I'm bi just because I'm young and it's in these days etcetc or B. um, a bisexual people can still be homophobic, or :?. But yeah, using /b/ slang is probably still a crime vicious enough, so for that part yuor hating is entirely justified.)

We dumped on someone from Finland fairly recently, IIRC, but Finns deserve it, though it explains why Hernia Martinique got all wrapped around the axle.

(Yes, I know you hate racists. As much as I hate homophobes. As much as we all hate bigots of all kind. Do you want to keep debating this?)

Also, come on. I was not "ranting" about tyrannical oldspags. This doesn't bother me that much in the end.
Now that Dalekk started this thread, I just felt like putting my 1½ cents in - I pointed out how things seemed to me, not fiercely defending every idiot noob in this place ever or plotting a pinealist revolution or anything. I didn't suggest we should all eternally crap candy cotton unicorns and flowers and try not to hurt each other, and I'm not saying older users won't get shat on if they say something stupid. It's just that noobs very rarely get second chances after that single mistake, while older users are auto-forgiven (okay, there may still be some srs cockfighting between individuals, but at least the whole community won't stop listening to them and keep reminding everyone of the Stupid Shit Once Posted, lest someone be nice to them even if they're clearly Stupid, forever).

In general terms, often the person who speaks seems a lot more important than what is said. This shows in the amount of feedback and support the new users receive, which in turn discourages them from contributing more of their own stuff.

We aren't dogmatic, we just treat ideas like cockfights.  And we usually have the er, best cocks.

I'm not saying I'm not tired of the pinealist crap, for example, but I don't think that's such a huge problem in the end - people who go on about that stuff usually figure out this place isn't what they're looking for pretty soon anyway. But IMO the absurdly aggressive feedback even sensible, potentially awesome noobs so easily receive here might keep a lot of Great Things from happening, and prevent the community from evolving. Or at least slow down the process.

And don't expect that everyone else is making or should be making the same decision.

^ This is exactly what people here seem to keep forgetting, and instead of explaining or discussing the views, well... yeah.

Think for Yourself, Schmuck! / Re: GASM: Invent Your Own Microreligion
« on: November 20, 2010, 10:59:55 am »
Okay, so this isn't really a religion as much as SRS SCIENCE, but it's called RETARDED DESIGN.

We've all heard the theories of intelligent design, and how irreducable complexity obviously shows us how blah blah blah whatever, and therefore, God.
This is of course entirely plausible, and the proponents of Retarded Design fully believe the Universe and life is too complex to have developed without a creator. However, why should we automatically assume the Designer is intelligent, before we have carefully observed their work to draw our conclusions?

Let's take a look around.

Okay so there are plants and trees and butterflies, with their fine-tuned cellular, um, things and stuff, all magnificent manifestations of a wonderfully precise design and I UM THERE ARE MONKEYS IN BURMA WHO SNEEZE EVERY TIME IT RAINS BECAUSE THEY GET WATER IN THEIR NOSE OR SOMETHING WHAT THE HELL IT'S A FUCKING RAINFOREST IT RAINS LIKE ALL THE TIME
And the immune system, an incredibly adaptive mechanism which WAIT I'M DESTROYING MY OWN PLATELETS BECAUSE MY BODY MISTAKES THEM FOR VIRUSES? THANKS A LOT FOR THE ITP, GOD OR WHATEVER, OKAY GOTTA GO AND BUY A FEW THOUSAND TONS OF PREDNISONE I GUESS
And just think about the entire Universe. An endless ocean of darkness, sprinkled with infinite amounts of stars and planets - oh, the possibilities! What wonders could we encounter if only YEAH IF ONLY THE OTHER SOLAR SYSTEMS WEREN'T IMPOSSIBLE TO EVER REACH BECAUSE OF AN ASSLOAD OF LIGHTYEARS BETWEEN US AND THEM AND WE CAN'T EVEN ACCELERATE TO THE SPEED OF LIGHT? SERIOUSLY, PISS OFF

So there are two options: either all of this has a perfectly valid reason, but we aren't supposed to understand it because the Designer's plans are too complicated for us, or the Designer is a complete moron who obviously has no idea how things work. We at the Super-Scientific Church of Retarded Design have decided to go for the latter.

Solves the problem of evil, too. It's okay, Job! All your servants and children died and you lost all of your fortunes, but God can't really be held accountable for that. He's, um, special.

OH GOD these guys are awesome :lulz:

9/23/2010 this is a good day for evolutionary magick! I'll explain why; if it doesn't make any sense to you then thats okay. it might not make sense or work for anyone! lets take the three male archtype dieties in discordianism. you have baphomet, coyote and loki. you have the prime female archtype: eris. now here comes the math:

baphomet: 23 coyote: 23 loki: 23

now take the numbers and numerology them:

2+3=5 2+3=5 2+3=5 5+5+5=15 1+5=6

the number six becomes an evolutionary step in discordianism to the next level (from 5 to 6). thus shows the male energy becoming a catalyst to the feminine evolotion. Thus raising eris to the next level. okay you may night agree or care, but it makes sense to me.

now why is 9/23/2010 important. on a 24 hour clock at 23:23 on the 23 day of the month gives the trinity of 23 adds up to trigger an evolution moment. this month their is a full moon on the 23rd. We all know or atleast understand the power of the full moon and then add the above theory of equations; now add all that together and you can see the potential of power at that moment. heck, the whole day can be dedicated to your own evolution or empowerment with the 23:23 moment being a peak of power.

Thank you for reading this post.

I don't have the time to read the entire manuscript right now, but seems pretty awesome so far and I shall read the rest of it this weekend. I suppose I could help with the artwork too.

Aaahaha this is awesome. I've replied to three or four so far.

I hope the people escapistmagazine.com are into pretty GIFs, the forum guidelines were kinda TL;DR.

Of course, the more traditional creatures have also had to cope with the modern world and update their habits to survive. I don't think I need to tell you what all the trolls are doing these days, but the adaptation doesn't always go so well: there was a guy who accidentally dropped some crack near the porch of his friend's parent's house, and the household gnome, crawling out from his tiny lair, found the rocks and thought the people had finally remembered his existence and left him some food. He quickly figured out what to do with the crack, resulting in tragic consequences - the poor creature became the first junkie gnome in history, and the people living in the house suffered from really really bad luck, strange injuries and horrible accidents for a long time, UNTIL THEY ALL DIED, THE HOUSE BURNED DOWN AND THE MORAL OF TEH STORY IS DON'T DO DRUGS.

Bring and Brag / Re: Man fails (lyrics horrible as hell)

Ahem. On a more serious note: yeah, the text itself was pretty lame, just the same old thing about a dying planet and blah blah angst. But your sentences are mostly correct, and I don't think your writing is bad at all when you don't try too hard - it's always a lot easier to crack a witty joke in your native tongue, and humour is one of the hardest things to master in a language, so it will take some practice. I think it's a common reason for misunderstandings with new people here.

I'd say you just need to check your posts a few times and try to be clearer with what you're saying, until you're pretty sure others will get your point and know if you're joking. Keep writing and reading, just don't use too complicated structures, sarcasm or weird references until you get more of the nuances in the English language, as well as how things like idioms differ from the Finnish ones.

Ja hauskaa krapulastaselviämistä. :P
