soo id like to believe this isnt the asshole of the internet, where the intelligent come to be depressed and angry about everything and give up... but thats what the lot of you seem to be doing.

That's because you aren't paying attention, and you have the wrong values.

This IS the asshole of the internet.  It's the very worst forum online, if you can look past the shock images that other sites get by on.

But we aren't depressed...On the contrary, we're filled with mirth.  Every time the humans do something stupid, it's like a comedy club in here.  You see, we see the value in horror, and we understand the post-American century.

You, on the other hand, don't seem like the type that laughs very much.  You seem like one of those people that cares.  This ain't gonna be your century, Sparky.

So you bust in here, trying to explain your pineal gland to us, but we already know "OR KILL ME".  You try to explain the tragedy of the human condition in poorly written English, but we already comprehend "I WILL KILL A MOTHERFUCKER".  You have your empathy, and we have "Bob".

We're in this for the long haul, because we're serious about having a good time.  You're just serious.

We're the glitch people.  The people in the back, wearing ties, throwing packets of fake blood and blaming the kids behind us.  The people who you see leaving last before the building collapses.  We're the fading people.  The people who simply aren't there when the riot cops show up.  The people you pass by every day, failing to comprehend the chaos left in our wake.  The ones who know how to get things done, but keep our heads down, our mouths shut.

Who are we?

We're the technical people.  The people that seem to be just another crowd of jackasses, but always seem to be gone 10 minutes before it happens.  The quiet people, the people who look sort of like you, but maybe grin a bit too much.  The people who don't seem to care about important things, like the troops and mom and apple pie, but never seem to ride in the back seat of the squad cars.

Sometimes you think you see us out of the corner of your eye, almost ethereal, but never there when you turn your head to look directly at us. We smile and occasionally laugh at your confusion and consternation. We are the ones who are aware of what goes on behind the scenes, which is all that really matters anyway, because everything else is just show and glitter. A whitewashed version of the truth.

Who are we?

We're the ones who realize that caring about everything is as useless as caring about nothing, and caring about everybody is as useless as caring about nobody.  We're the ones who can find the mirth under the horror and embrace it, despite it being covered with gore.  We're the ones who realize that the only thing really worth being serious about is having a good time.

i agree with all of this, and i am that person in every group im a part of, and i have been long before i ever heard of a thing called discordianism. except lunas last part, and a bit of yours roger. its a wee bit too selfish for me. i care for my clan because i know i need a clan. i know its an age of individualism, and i pride my self on my own. your collectivism in this proves my point. while u may act individually there is a sense of symbiosis all through out this forum. if not this forum would be filled with nothing BUT strife and its not. i see the loose sense of unity amongst you all, and its great, as long as its loose. you are a clan, no matter how alone you may feel in everyday life, everyones got some sort of support system, whether its a bickering family or a bunch oh loners on the internet. one thing ill never be down with is alienating good natured people, no matter how often they disappoint me. just because you have a group doesnt mean youre tied to them for life and cant grow past it. as per your participation in a forum you acknowledge a need for human interaction, just not any particular humans. which is great, im not trying to do any different, im just passing thru. always just passing through. you all acknowledge the need for some level of respect. you make the mistake of assuming im particular type of person because i entered the forum playing a part i knew was sure to upset a crowd who were going to fuck with me no matter what, because i know how to fuck with me (isnt that the point). Its fun to be a prick, but its stupid to assume, no matter how you twist it.

hence, im still here and still having fun.

Mesozoic Mister Nigel

We're the salvage people. The people with the truck and the jumpsuits loading unknown debris from the abandoned building around the corner. We're the pitchfork people, the people you see at the side of the road cleaning up something you can't quite identify as you drive past. We're the lawn care people, and you've never asked what we use in the spray that keeps the grass so green. We're the people with the unmarked white trailer parked outside of your neighbor's house for three days, and you never see us move anything in or out of it but you know something's gone terribly wrong and you don't want to know, so you don't think of it, never think of it again. We're the people who clean up the mess so you don't have to. We do it for you; we're here to protect you from knowing.

Who are we?

What is it with people who think that other people will read their shit when they can't even be arsed to use enough capitalization, punctuation, and basic paragraph structure to make it readable?

CLUE FOR THE CLUELESS:  No matter how good your idea may (or may not) be, nobody's going to care if you can't spend the tiny amount of time required to make it intelligible.

This

Hello, if you can't spend the time using punctuation and grammar to make something readable, I'm going to assume you didn't care about it enough to make it worth reading.

Who are we?

We're the night time people.  We're the people who come in the night.  Remember Janis Joplin and Captain Kangaroo and that nice old man that used to live down the street?  Neither do we, because we're the clean-up people...We clean your neighborhood, and remove unsightly and unprofitable people who say things that make you think about things that you'd rather just ignore.
