{"id":431,"date":"2009-03-27T06:03:45","date_gmt":"2009-03-27T14:03:45","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.principiadiscordia.com\/blog\/?p=431"},"modified":"2009-03-27T06:03:45","modified_gmt":"2009-03-27T14:03:45","slug":"keep-drinking","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.principiadiscordia.com\/blog\/index.php\/2009\/03\/27\/keep-drinking\/","title":{"rendered":"Keep Drinking"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"0in 0in 0pt;\"><span style=\"small;\"><span style=\"Times New Roman;\">This is covering ground touched on in previous CP\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s, but it EASILY merits reiteration and elaboration.<span style=\"yes;\">\u00c2\u00a0 <\/span>Dehydration sucks.<span style=\"yes;\">\u00c2\u00a0 <\/span>An old teacher of mine put this simply, and only had to say it once.<span style=\"yes;\">\u00c2\u00a0 <\/span>Lack of water will drop you faster than many other passive needs, excepting lack of air, so it bears paying attention to.<span style=\"yes;\">\u00c2\u00a0 <\/span>Habitually carrying a water bottle is not a bad habit to be in, as has been mentioned in previous articles, whether it\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s a soft drink bottle you just kept using (they\u00e2\u20ac\u2122re durable enough), or a fancy steel \/ aluminum \/ lexan one that could potentially fall off a cliff with little ill effect.<span style=\"yes;\">\u00c2\u00a0 <\/span>(Keep in mind a good strong bottle can also make an admirable clubbing tool, if you really need.<span style=\"yes;\">\u00c2\u00a0 <\/span>Hit with the corners, if you have a choice, the sides tend to cave in with abuse.)<span style=\"yes;\">\u00c2\u00a0 <\/span>In hotter conditions, as you loose water through sweating, you will need to do more than just re \u00e2\u20ac\u201c hydrate, you may also need to put more salt \/ sugar in your system, since they are also lost when you\u00e2\u20ac\u2122re sweating.<span style=\"yes;\">\u00c2\u00a0 <\/span>Sports drinks (Gatorade), are the obvious taste appealing solution, and come in powdered form which is easy to use as you need.<span style=\"yes;\">\u00c2\u00a0 <\/span>Mixing them about half the recommended strength works well.<span style=\"yes;\">\u00c2\u00a0 <\/span>If it\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s not available, small amounts of pickle juice, table salt, or even sea water can substitute.<span style=\"yes;\">\u00c2\u00a0 <\/span>Use any with care, ESPECIALLY with the sea water, since getting too much salt in your system will only make the dehydration worse, and ocean water has a tremendously high salt content.<span style=\"yes;\">\u00c2\u00a0 <\/span>(A few cups can take you from thirsty to dangerously \/ fatally dehydrated FAST.)<span style=\"yes;\">\u00c2\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"0in 0in 0pt;\"><span style=\"small;\"><span style=\"Times New Roman;\">Good luck and drink up!
