1.  I assumed that Europe has them too, but I cannot speak on them, as I am rather out of touch, having not visited Europe in yeas.

2.  You hit a good point, regarding the calculating uncivilized.  They are, however, nothing new...Hell, Samuel Clemmens talked about the, as did Cicero.

Oh yeah. Good old Cicero. Got my nose stuck in his speeches once. Had them in my latin course at the uni. pretty much into getting rid of the parasites he was.

How would we know if we had one?  You wouldn't see him on tv, you couldn't hear him on the radio, and the only mention in the newspaper would be "Some nutcase was arrested Tuesday for saying unpatriotic things in a public place."
