of the 300 or so different things I have seen I have found two shows which are watchable, and two films that are nice and wholesome for the kids.
the films are princess mononoke and spirited away.
the reason they are good: They imitate western films.

pretty much all other anime falls under the following:
-Perverted.
-pedophilia (I dont give a fuck if the little girl getting raped by the tentacle is a four thousand year old robot its still SICK)
-cheesy/cliched to the point of suicide.
-so mistranslated and incomprehensible that it sounds like reverse readings of the bible.
-gawdy and horrible to look at.
-written by an autistic rapist with dyslexia.
-a merchandising scam.

I haven't seen a decent anime that came out in the past 5 years, Faust. And by decent, I mean that I could watch for 2 minutes without turning it off and wishing for Sailor Moon reruns again.

gantz, if you can handle gore, its characters are whiny, but more realistic then most shit out there, also pretty well written if you can get past the voyeurism of the gore/sex.

I've heard decent things about Gantz, but I have no time to devote into even getting back into a series anymore.

And Onizuka was so-so. My ex loved it, I was not amused.
