I did apoogize. However, I made shit stupid and complicated with the whole racist/ prejudice thing. I can't explain what I meant in last few comments so I'll just use examples of what I think is prejudice and racist.

Prejudice: A man is walking home from work and notices that a group of four black men dressed like "thugs" are waiting at a street corner further up the side walk. They appear to be their for no reason that's legal. The man gets nervous and decides he'll cross the street to avoid them.

Racist: A man is walking home from work when an old black man coming from the other direction accidentally bumps into him. The man is outraged and shouts "You stupid fucking nigger, watch where you're going!"

Prejudice: A shop owner  notices that items are coming up short when inventory is taken every night. The Shop Owner realizes she just hired a new employee who's black, so she decides to keep a closer eye on the black girl than the other employees.

Racist: A duaghter brings a black boy home to her father. The father firmly lets the boy know he isn't allowed at the house. Once the boy leaves the father screams at the daughter for bringing a "negro" to the house.

Now I always made this distinction thinking one was mabey okay and the other wasn't, but it's all just racism. Even the "Racism-lite/ learned prejudice" that is so brutally common throughout American Suberbs and shletered, mostly-white communities is racism.

I don't mean to be prejudice, but I guess I am somtimes. I can't fucking help it and this sounds wierd, but I actually want to thank this community for helping me realize another of my many flaws.


I truly do apologize if I offened anyone. My comment was rude. out of line, and it WILL NEVER HAPPEN AGAIN.

look, i can understand this. if you were brought up in a certain way, from some neighbourhood or village, or perhaps had some negative experiences, i can understand building up some sort of prejudice (or even racism).

but that doesn't mean it isn't wrong.

and the fact that you are now able to recognize it as racist or prejudiced means you can do something about it.

this forum is not about teaching you what is racism, what is prejudice and what is not. it is about teaching you to think for yourself and be aware of your own imprinted program/thoughts/the way you work.
so just pay attention to yourself, and try to notice the next time you feel prejudiced about something/somebody.
when you do, pay no attention to it, don't act on it, and don't give it a voice (like defending this thought/feeling to yourself or somebody else, rationalizing your irrational thoughts is just another bar in your prison).
if it helps you, ask yourself "would i act the same way if he/she/they were white?"

you sometimes can't help thoughts or feelings from popping up, but you can always choose whether or not to act on them (and if you consistently choose not to act on them and disregard them, they will pop up less)

Racism in this country is also called 'Racial Prejudice' (to pre judge people on the strength of their race_

There are two kinds of prejudice - smart and stoopid

Smart prejudice - large crowd of people drinking paintstripper and waving guns at the end of the street = don't walk down street

Stupid prejudice - large crowd of black people drinking paintstripper and waving guns at the end of the street = black people are evil

When primate brain encounters dangerous situation it remembers it by associating unique factors, the smell of paintstripper, the loud banging noises, the common skin colour of the individuals.

It's unlikely that this is the first time you've seen black people tho, so linking skin colour with danger situation is a bad call. Surely the doctor guy who treated your kid for meningitis isn't a paintstripper guzzling gang banger? Of course not. But perhaps your subconscious mind had already decided. At this point you are required to think, to overrule the racist imperative, to disassociate skin colour with paintstripper.

Most primates are simply too fucking stupid to accomplish this level of thought. There's a lot of racism out there.

The last statement is, itself, a form of prejudice. It'd take a lot of fucking people to change my mind.
