Not so sure if I agree with this tbh. I'm pretty much convinced it's all bullshit. Even the truth (if anything exists that can actually be called such) is just more bullshit. The universe is a huge big complicated lie or, in other words, bullshit.

It's all relative. Earning respect might make you feel good about yourself. Respecting others might make them feel good about themselves and, along the line somewhere, there may arise a kind respect-based feedback loop of funky goodvibes but, utlimately, it's all just monkeys sucking each others dicks.

That's not to say I don't like to give and receive respect but it's still bullshit.

Respect, Integrity and honour are the way I play the game of life but I'm fully aware that this is purely my grid. It's still bullshit. Point in case - my approach to life and my actions in it would prolly be condemned as disrepectful, and immoral by the majority of this meaningless mudball. They don't respect me and I don't respect them simply because our own BIP's have different definitions of respect.

Respect is harder to practice than it should be.  Respect should be based on honesty, but usually bullshit is confused for respect.

Take a friend who's staying at your place for a couple of days.  It's fun but soon enough you want your house back.  Then they announce they've decided to stay an extra day.  You've had enough, sure.  And they're your friend.  But how do you say "I don't think so, I want my house back" without making your friend feel rejected?

Sure, I try to surround myself with people who can handle that kind of thing.  Only way to stay sane.  But Out There, they would see that as a conundrum where respect actually contradicts honesty.

I think the direction LHX is going is to define the way bullshit and respect are actually diametrically opposed.

As for the original post.  I think it makes very much sense. 

I do see Silly's point that it is probably all BS, even the truth, but why keep throwing shit on top of the pile?  Even if at the bottom is just that single turd of meaningless truth. 

Like LHX said, little Johnny wouldn't have snapped if the BS wouldv'e weighed a little less.  Or maybe Sally would snap instead.  Not being able to get her chocolate bar.

But if we had enough respect and understanding, Sally and Johnny should be able to share the damn chocolate bar anyway.


I used to know this woman who was raising a baby and to get the poor child to get under the covers and goto sleep she would scare him by telling him that the boogie-man was gonna get him.  She thought it was so cute when he huddled under the covers and clung to her side, and it actually worked at times.

I objected to this as cruel and wrong, but she didn't think so.  He would also wake up in the middle of the night screaming from nightmares.  Very often. 

This reinforces the point I think.  More BS = more pain and suffering. 
Less BS = greater understanding, respectfulness, honor, integrity, and so on.

Imagine if no Christian church anywhere held any part of the bible as literal.  But still maintained that it was the Word of God and that its morals should be read and understood.  Less arguing about creation and gay rights, more arguing about the disparity between the rich and the poor, etc.
