Hate's a motivational tool.

Nothing more.

Hate is no different from a stick, a bonus, promise of a fuck or fear of an ass-kicking.

You want to achieve something?  Be coldly logical.

I've seen far too many "apostles of hate" who get so wrapped up in it that it effects their ability to act effectively.  It becomes the goal, and not the tool.

These people are easily goaded into traps, to throw off balance, to decieve and confuse and trick.  They use their hate ineffectively, and because of that, they lose.  Whatever they were hoping to achieve.

My former roommate used to be very wrapped up in these things. How her hate and "suffering" made her SO UNIQUE and would make her a better writer or something. But instead of actually doing anything productive, she just became wrapped up in trying to be hateful and suffering and things like that. Drove me up a fucking wall. Meanwhile, all she did was back herself into a corner where she was stuck in this pre-defined little box she had made for herself. In the 2+ years I've known her, I've never seen her really grow or change at all. All she did by getting hung up on these ideas is limit herself.

And it sucks, because when she can break out for just a second, she's a really smart, interesting person. But 98% of the time, she's a massive tool.

I also knew someone like that.

He was potentially the best sword fighter I ever met.  He had reactions like I have never seen, was strong enough to keep his stamina going and flexible enough (mentally and physically) to pose a real challenge to many people.

But if you goaded him...well...

And he became worse over time.  He'd come in with flurries of blows, very fast and powerful, well aimed, but ultimately wearing himself down.

In the end, it was a simple matter of weathering the storm, then going in to deliver the final cut.

Love an hate are not opposites.

To hate, or love, you need passion.
Passion for me is a motivator. I love it. I love getting worked up during a workout. I love getting riled up before a fight. Without those strong emotions I wouldn't have been able to do half the shit I've done.

I'm just saying this for those of you that think being emotionless is somehow good.

Along with Cain's Dance of Troof, we have Hunter with the Left Hook of Troof.

The trick is to control your emotions and not let them control you. Currently, I am stewing in my own rage and will snap at any moment. When I snap, it won't be pretty, and it won't be a good situation. I need to be better at controlling my emotions.

However, emotionless is really no better.

Passion is 180% the way to go. But fuck if it doesn't sound corny as hell! "I aspire to live every day as passionately as possible!"

It's hard to have one emotion without the other.
Look at those ineffectual hippies.

If they really loved the down trodden, they need to learn to hate the corporation, or government (whatever their deal is).

I come off as hateful, but it weren't for the love I feel, I wouldn't have the energy, the passion, to hate so strongly.

Wait...

Go on about this love you feel.

Cain

Hippies were nasty, back in the day.

You read the actual biographies of people who didn't do enough drugs to scramble their brain, and they said the attitude towards "the establishment" was really hostile.

Not that it mattered.  In the end, the only people who ever managed a modicum of success were the Yippies, anyway.

I never wanted to sound that gay, but it was relevant to the discussion.

I killed my image...

check. so passion is one of the "properly" things i tried to point out.

(there's probably more than just passion)

but it's one of those in between things, the perpendicular axis, so to say.

you know that's not what Silly said, right?

he's not emotionless, he just likes staying in control
(we had that discussion before, i think, some (maybe me too) called him a sociopath ;-) )

I called Fuzzymike a sociopath.

Hey, he wanted to play the "I don't care about..." game, I just took him at his word and extended it to its logical conclusion.

There is a difference between not caring, and not letting something have more control over your actions than is necessary to achieve your goal.

Triple Zero

i think we're talking about different discussions here, it was before fuzzymike started posting afaik. me, silly and LMNO in that thread (at least).

but never mind that, it's off topic thread driftwood. i think i said what i wanted about hate and love and passion.

All mocking aside (for the time being), I do really agree with you, Hunter. I think what you've said is entirely correct.

000 - It was a blanket statement for anyone that feels, or will feel, that way.
I didn't say "Eat it, Silly."

This place sucks. Evertime I bitch and moan about the news, or children, or whatever pissed me off, you're just gunna say "Oh, he looks mad, but he's dripping with the lurve."
