It's a volunteer opportunity.

We give them at least 4 hours of our time a day, and we get in for free, get fed for free, and get to skip ahead of lines in a conventions of 65,000 people. The table duty I'm doing is in addition to my volunteer time, but it gives me something to do and meet new people and such so I can get an Empire City Garrison patch for my hoodie and trade a New England Garrison one. 

Plus I'm part of my garrison command team, so the more I schmooze, the better it makes me and the NEG look and the better chance I have to get invited back for cooler more exclusive events by other garrisons. I know some people who have marched in the Tournament of Roses, gone to Skywalker Ranch, done escort duty for celebs at shows, been on talk shows, etc.

I'm also staying at a friend's apartment. So my board is free.

The only think I paid for was one-way on the train, because I had Amtrak points for the other.

I don't have pics of me in the full Italian Renaissance that I actually like, nor my Roman, but I'm planning a shoot eventually within the next few weeks at LEAST with those two since the weather has finally broken. My Elizabethan got destroyed when my sister lived with me, and needs a serious dry cleaning to get the incredible wrinkles out of the silk velvet.  But I wanted to do a full on shoot with that in the fall when I can get all the makeup on. I'll probably wear it to King Richard's and make people think I work there or something.
