Because they're not doing anything to rectify it.

The problem isn't the mod is an asshole.  The problem is that he has too much power and is unaccountable for his actions.  By not rectifying that problem, they are de facto supporting him, no matter what pretty words they may say.

And CoG seems to have a bit of a history of power tripping mods, as I recall.
