MysticWicks endorsement: "I've always, always regarded the Discordians as being people who chose to be Discordians because they can't be arsed to actually do any work to develop a relationship with a specific deity, they were too wishy-washy to choose just one path, and they just want to be a mishmash of everything and not have to work at learning about rituals or traditions or any such thing as that."

Jesus saves, but Eris is a better lay.

Oh, let's not get into the rampant Deiphilism again.  It's been done to death.

(Snicker, chuckle)

also, if eris is the deity of the religion, by the founder. She is the greek goddess of confusion, so it would make sense if everything discordia was linked to in one way or another had something to do with sensible nonsense, insanity with reason, with a twisted logic of it's own. That being why such random statements and acts are in Discordia.

well I am reading the discordian book and it says not to believe anything you read so... lol do I disbelieve the book? if so then the discordia shouldn't exist.

Leap of logic. It doesn't say that nothing you read should exist.
"I'm guessing it was January 2007, a meeting in Bethesda, we got a bag of bees and just started smashing them on the desk," Charles Wick said. "It was very complicated."

You don't Get It if you're still talking like that.

Please do not claim to represent us.

Well just treat me like I have absolutely no clue of discordia, tell me what discordia is and what discordians "do" I guess you could say I'm not sure on how to phrase it. My only understanding of Discordia is that it's a chaos religion.

"All statements are true in some sense, false in some sense, meaningless in some sense, true and false in some sense, true and meaningless in some sense, false and meaningless in some sense, and true and false and meaningless in some sense." -- Sri Syadasti.

How does that statement apply to itself?  How does it apply to the Principia Discordia wherein it is contained?  Perhaps if you spend enough time meditating on this you understand Discordianism.

Or not.  But you'll spend a shitload of time trying.  That's a good thing.

Not quite.

My personal view of Discordia is the useful metaphors in discerning Disorder, Order, Creation, Destruction, reality as a psychological construct, et cetera.  The rest is good jokes and bad jokes, to me.

I have only been here like a month, I came over from The Church of Google. This place fits me better. I have not read the principa discordia yet. I just hung around and got a feel. Think for yourself and do what you like.

If you haven't finished reading the book, maybe you should try that. It's short, and easy.

Well I am reading the principia discordia, I'm on Page 17, from what I gather, it is chaotic, yes, but as far as eris goes. She is more of a basis for the reason of Discordia, an example I guess you could say. The random things in the book are good examples of Discordia, but it is more of disorder and chaos, but in an organized manner so to speak, than it is a religion.

Paiyaku

I got it.
The erisian stuff is bull lol, but discordia is pretty cool. I don't see it as a religion as it is a religion within a joke and a joke within a religion. all in all, it is a joke, chaos, madness, but with logical circumstance.
