One last point: intelligent people tend to get angry when you try to expose memes to them. That's why the internet hates Jack Chick.

:?
I think you're using a different usage of the word "meme"

Memes are just units of information. Not slogans, advertising gimmicks, or cute lolcat pictures. Well, those things are memes, but not all memes are like that.

At a party last week, someone said, "Your name has become a meme."

that must be that weird usage of a meme meaning "something on the internet"
because ALL our names are memes

Isn't another implication of memes that they are replicated units of information? I always thought it was sort of like

memes:information::genes:biology

I've never been able to pin down a good definition for the term.

If you tell someone something, then the information you told them has been replicated. By that, all information that has been communicated in any form is a meme. If you wrote something down in a diary, it's still a meme, because potentially, someone could read that diary and absorb that same info in some form. People are memes, too, for reasons that should be obvious to anyone who is familiar with the idea of ego as a predictive model. If you think I'm going to do something, that's because you have a meme version of me in your head that is doing something.

I am not "full of hate" as if I were some passive container. I am a generator of hate, and my rage is a renewable resource, like sunshine.

Trippy. Thanks for the clarification.

"But what of all the innocents that have suffered?"

"There are no innocents. It is all of us, together, through action and inaction, that make the world what it is."

-Eldred and Mithras having a friendly chat in Sacrifice

Also, it seems that I'm incapable of communicating with my own species and I should be learning seagull-language about now. ITT, I stupidly used the idea "expose a meme to someone" when I meant "actually, successfully infect someone with a meme". Even more stupidly, I kept on seeing it in that light and using it thus. Sorry. My brain gets weird wire-crosses like that sometimes.
