Thinking about Gabbard in general, my animal instinct is to flatten my ears against my head, roll my eyes up till the whites show, bare my teeth, and trill like a cicada stuck in a Commodore 64.

Scree, is that you in that pic?

Bwahaha, no. Its from the about.com article.

Speaking of scarves, I'm thinking of trying this idea: http://craftingforcheapskates.blogspot.com/2008/09/hooded-scarf.html All I need to do is wait for the heat to die down so I can go raid the local charity shop.

Cheers for the apron pattern Sanguine, I think I'll have a crack at it as soon as I finish my sock monkey.  :)

Jenne

Holy shit, scree--very cool!  I'm always looking for ideas like that!

Sangine Penguin, you are quite the seamstress--all your stuff rocks!

I have so much scrap fabric I'm thinking of weaving them together to make scarves.

rag rugs!  I've always wanted to try one of them..

Raphaella

Thanks Jenne!

And Scree that hooded scarf looks pretty sweet. I'll have to get a bunch of long sleeved shirts from the thrift store next time I go and try out that pattern.

In other news I have put that jacket aside for now until my skill level progresses a bit. I continue to try and make it work, but for now I've started making a simple dress for my mother. I'll post pics soon.

I have here some pics of the muslin for the dress. It's really simple and it's WAY more flattering on than it is laid out on the dummy.

It's not really my style but I know my mom will like it. The final one will be purple.

Interesting neckline, looks very 60s/70s romance revival.

I like the way you put it Suu. I was thinking... "looks kinda like curtains for your boobs."  :| really it looks better on.

Is that elastic or gathers?

It's wide elastic, but it could be done with gathers. Those cartridge pleats would look really nice with this I think. I'll have to try that sometime.

Here is the boob curtain dress in action.

I belted it cause it's just a tad too big, but on my mom it should be fine.

I have finished the muslin for a pencil skirt! I'm happy about this one. I messed up the zipper a bit but I hope I'll do better on the actual skirt. I have tons of huge costume zippers from Disney and so I cut one down for this project. On the actual skirt I'll go out and buy an invisible zipper. The green fabric is what I'm thinking of using. I only have about 2 yards of it, so I need to make something small.

HOLLLLY SHIT whenever I see that fabric my brain pops.

This is my first fashion sketch, I did this with my friend standing by and telling me what/how to draw it. Since then I have forgotten all the basic stuff she told me.  I really should brush up.

Buttonholes are buttholes, as well.
