TESTEMONAIL:  Right and Discordianism allows room for personal interpretation. You have your theories and I have mine. Unlike Christianity, Discordia allows room for ideas and opinions, and mine is well-informed and based on ancient philosophy and theology, so, my neo-Discordian friends, open your minds to my interpretation and I will open my mind to yours. That's fair enough, right? Just claiming to be discordian should mean that your mind is open and willing to learn and share ideas. You guys are fucking bashing me and your laughing at my theologies and my friends know what's up and are laughing at you and honestly this is my last shot at putting a label on my belief structure and your making me lose all hope of ever finding a ideological group I can relate to because you don't even know what the fuck I'm talking about and everything I have said is based on the founding principals of real Discordianism. Expand your mind.

Rumckle's Short Wangsty Rant

I don't have a lot of rules by which I live my life, and aside from the "normal" ones, there is only one main rule:
Don't look forward to anything.

Okay, I know that it may seem fucking angsty, and like I'm whining pessimist bitch, but bear with me.

Normally I am an optimistic person, I find that most of the time things end up working out, to some degree. But that isn't really where this idea comes from, I try to look at this from a logical point of view. This idea from me stems from the fact that if you look forward to things you invariably, get let down.

If you don't look forward to something, and it happens you still feel elated, but if it doesn't happen, you don't get disappointed.

Personally I find happiness you aren't really expecting is much better anyway.

Unfortunately I do sometimes forget this rule of mine, and sometimes it doesn't matter, but when things turn out to be shit, or plans get canceled, well that is when I remember why I try not to look forward to things.

But then again, since when did logic and emotions mix anyway?
It's not trolling, it's just satire.

I agree with you. Most of the time I found this rule quite optimistic in my case. If you aren't constructing expectations then you could truly appreciate what is actually around you. Without a fixed direction the scenery can be encompassing.
Not that I actually live like that in most cases.
Through me the way to the city of woe, Through me the way to everlasting pain, Through me the way among the lost.
Justice moved my maker on high.
Divine power made me, Wisdom supreme, and Primal love.
Before me nothing was but things eternal, and eternal I endure.
Abandon all hope, you who enter here.

No comments on your rant, I just feel like sharing this.

I am so fucking immature, it made me giggle.

I was about to post the same thing.

Mesozoic Mister Nigel

The rant reminds me of my motto: Hope kills. Despair is merely tiresome.
"I'm guessing it was January 2007, a meeting in Bethesda, we got a bag of bees and just started smashing them on the desk," Charles Wick said. "It was very complicated."

I have found that as I get older, I do tamp down my excitement so far that the only thing left when something's coming up is anxiety.  So I lose sleep, but I still get everything done to make the event or whatever it is happen, and whatever I experience, it's got an edge of angst but is still THERE.  I guess it's just a little system I devised in my head so I don't constantly seem unaware and get sledgehammered in the nutsack or live outside the moment in a haze of glorious expectation.

I've been taken unawares by idiotically assinine things happening to me in the last 5 years or so.  This is the sanest solution I have for self-defense.  (total barstool still, but wtf)
