LMNO will fucking love this. Howl might also, if he isn't totally fucking sick of country... this is like a Black Johnny Cash with a heavy metal backing band, please consume this media

And the artist (one dude) DOES NOT HAVE A BAD SONG I swear it's all fucking amazing
"I am that worst of all type of criminal...I cannot bring myself to do what you tell me, because you told me."

There's over 100 of us in this meat-suit. You'd think it runs like a ship, but it's more like a hundred and ten angry ghosts having an old-school QuakeWorld tournament, three people desperately trying to make sure the gamers don't go hungry or soil themselves, and the Facilities manager weeping in the corner as the garbage piles high.

I got in a mood.

No, that's wrong: the world got in a mood.

That link sat in my tabs for a month.  Today I got around to it.  The "Ship on Fire" track: Very Yes.  Not sure who thought country-metal with sorcerous chanting was a good idea, but I've got this track on repeat.

If you like that, listen to You Ain't Coming Back. R&B meets epic doom. It's at least as enchanting and apocalyptic as you can possibly imagine.

Or Row Row, an old time spiritual with blues elements and freaked out black metal stabs of aggression. And the lyrics: You might have guessed, but they're surprisingly dark. And in this case? Very Innsmouthy.

There is not a bad song on the album, just give them a chance. Even the filler tracks have value.

This is the shallow end, friend. This is a band worth digging into. Try some of the older stuff too: just as good and inventive.

Fulu Miziki is a collective of artists who comes straight from a future where humans have reconciled with mother earth and with themselves. This multidisciplinary collective of artists is based in the heart of the Congolese capital city Kinshasa and was founded by Pisko Crane. For several years now, it's founder Pisko has spent an amount of time conceptualizing an orchestra made from objects found in the trash, constantly changing instruments, always in search of new sounds.

One for Howl. Pay attention to the lyrics, it's worth it. It's only too bad I didn't remember this before COVID: you could have tortured the whole company with it.

This showed up in that stream of synthwave crap I leave playing in the background while I'm at work.  It's not particularly well done, but I kinda like the lyrics.

I'm doing album reviews for money and for fun now.

The first fun one is going to be a review of this: https://156silence.bandcamp.com/album/irrational-pull

This is firmly and confidently one of the best three albums of 2020, because there's only one band putting something out this year that could be significantly better and by this point it's likely to be difficult for more than one left field surprise to hit.

Tough guy hardcore with very little beatdown influence, and a lot of chaotic paranoia in the vocals that veer between panicked shrieks and Alexis Marshall/David Yow style rambling, yawning, slurred mumbles. Check Lost Visual, By a Thread (I Suspend), and Irrational Pull. I'll link to my review later.

I was listening to Igorrr & Ruby My Dear - Alain, was skimming the comments, and found a recommendation for this:

David Maxim Micic - Disorder

It's sort of a polka-accordion ...slavic death-metal ... opera?  I dunno, musical taxonomy isn't my thing.  Kinda liked it, though.

Been listening to a lot of electro industrial lately, since I provided a remix of a futurepop song a friend wrote and recorded vox for. This was a 3 or 4 day deal.

What, you expected me to link what I was listening to? No, no, I'm linking you to what I made.

I should mention I did almost ALL of the mixing and EQ work using laptop speakers before I thought to test it out with my headphones (they're not amazing, but) and barely changed anything on that side of things. (The de-essing had to be applied rather liberally afterwards though, especially for the end of the 3rd chorus. I do not like editing vocals.)
