So I've been gone for a little over a week and...

in fairness, I just said that I would be considering making changes, and changes that would only be made with the agreement of all of the admins. As I currently have very little time to internets, and only the barest hint of a wi-fi signal at my current crib (I literally have to open tabs with the minute or so I manage to stay connected to this signal, then I write my posts and then I connect again just long enough to send them), no serious changes to the forum will be occurring anytime in the next few weeks.

As for my problem, I am sick of people thinking this board is their own personal shitting ground. I don't expect (or want) everyone to be nice to each other all the time, but if you don't have enough respect for the other people here to not fling needless (and unfunny) insults for no other reason than you're having a bad day or someone didn't like your rant, then fuck off to somewhere more fitting for that sort of thing, like 4 chan or SA. It's not much to ask, since not being a needlessly humorless prick to someone doesn't require you to have a whole lot of respect for them, just a tiny little smidgen.

About the same amount of respect that (to me, at least) people more or less automatically earn just by sticking around here and contributing.

Some yahoo yelled at me, saying 'GIVE ME LIBERTY OR GIVE ME DEATH', and I thought, "I'm feeling generous today.  Why not BOTH?"

BADGE OF HONOR

Fair enough, a good point, and I at least will take it to heart.
The Jerk On Bike rolled his eyes and tossed the waffle back over his shoulder--before it struck the ground, a stout, disconcertingly monkey-like dog sprang into the air and snatched it, and began to masticate it--literally--for the sound it made was like a homonculus squatting on the floor muttering "masticate masticate masticate".

Look, asshole:  Your 'incomprehensible' act, your word-salad, your pinealism...It BORES ME.  I've been incomprehensible for so long, I TEACH IT TO MBA CANDIDATES.  So if you simply MUST talk about your pineal gland or happy children dancing in the wildflowers, go talk to Roger, because he digs that kind of shit

Ding.

That's gonna come to an end, I think.  Again, I won't consider banning a regular contributing member unless they do something INSANELY stupid (posting kiddie porn, etc), but I DO have a problem with people who exist only to tear down the threads, etc, of regular members, just to fling shit.

Examples of people who SHOULD receive at least temp bans:

Daruko
Wade
Cowass
Lamanite

Examples of people who probably/maybe shouldn't:

AKK
Dead Kennedy

Examples of people who definitely shouldn't:

The last regular I had a fight with.
People who show up thinking we sit around quoting the PD all day (well, at first, anyway).

Hrmmm, so anytime I do something stupid, I should pick a fight with you first? ;-)

I can't help wonder if many times common decency isn't squelched in order to appear cool.

You should know that "Common" decency isn't.

The curse of being old school I guess. The same for common manners?

I don't buy this. You are more than aware that in the context I used the word common there are some universally accepted connontations.

I am simply a common person. Oddly I find no insult in this.
