I've been having fun playing with Twitter for the last month or so.  Yes, 90% of the people on there are lame asses who think that other people care what they had for breakfast.  But I've also discoverd that it can be a powerful networking tool in the right hands.  We need to do something to raise the profile of Discordians on Twitter, whether we do that by having a GASM account to help promote missions or just by setting up an interconnected network through hashtags.

That's actually a very cool usage.  I borked up any chance I had with facebook after letting tons of friends and family on.  So now I avoid it like the fucking plague because really, if I wanted to broadcast to them all next time I wanted to take a dump, I'd just do it by email or something.

Using Twitter for a gasm or something sounds awesome.

Protip:  read up on the "limited profile" feature.  You can select who gets to see what.  That way, only your chosen circle of friends will be able to stay informed of your colon's health.

Btw, if you intend to spread memebombs, OM materials, &c there are several twitter services who are mostly just re-broadcasters. For instance, @memetweet will typically just repost whatever you send it with an @reply to you, and everyone following that person will get it. I have an absurdly large group of followers considering that I mostly post long strings of nonsense, so you can probably direct stuff to me if you want it reposted to a large group ( @enkiv2 )

I know this already--but then when I restrict their access, they whine.  I shit you not--this is a sign of people with too much time on their hands, they WANT to know the health of the colon.

So then I just don't show up.  Or lurk and don't post.

If he were exposed to a few memebombs and a GASM or two... he may just poke back. There appear to be a number of high profile 'pranklike' individuals on Twitter.... this could be extremely useful.

Ok, I'm Officially slamming this thread into the Information Vectors thread, and declaring TwitterGASM to be the communication-backbone of the InfoVector Master List used for recruiting, as a vector, and also to coordinate in real-time during peak memebomb throwing sessions (Ex: EVERYONE JUMP ON FACEBOOK, post this gif[godzillabukkake.chooseyourownadventure@tiny.url] to 5 friendsorgroups then meet us on BoingBoing +523 points).

We should really see if we can contact people in the current internet counterculture - groups like the former Technoccult site (now Renegade Futurist), Alterati (good for creative projects), the PDX Occulture lot...and work from there.  The first two in particular churn out links and promotions like nobodies business, and with the added bonus of attracting our sort of crowd.

Disinfo.com would be a good target too.  If there are enough of us there we could vote the story up and get it on the main page.

Can we start setting up a wiki page for these memetic infection vectors?

We can break it down into sections and have easy links to register for sites like stumbleupon, boingboing, LJ, etc, etc.

If we can make it very easy for the PD members that are less interested in trying to organize this thing to get all set up with accounts everywhere we need them, then we can have our mob pre-register over a few weeks time. Then once we have something ready to infect the web with we would have a large group of agents that can just jump in and start posting/commenting/bumpng our stuff all over without having to go through the hassle of signing up for each site right before they do so.
