[Prelate Diogenes Shandor]

A planet in which a certain biochemical essential to the planet's lifeforms is no longer synthesized by any currently living organism, and so the planet is slowly dying (imagine, for example, if all the creatures that make omega-3 fatty acids disappeared from Earth and there were no labs to synthesize them, so the same omega-3's had to be passed around and around and around)

In an allegorical satire of sci-fi stories that worry about how technology will change society as well as nostalgia stories that fret about how technology has changed society: A man gains immortality, perfect health, and the ability to fly from a procedure that also involves cutting off his big toe. Rather than be happy for him, all his friends and acquaintances keep urging him to "think of what you've lost"

Where's the nostalgia part?

The same as the sci-fi technophobia part. It's as much a parody of "nobody can write in cursive anymore because of computers (and pens that aren't made out of dirty animal feathers)" or "surgery to reverse hearing loss is preventing people from learning sign language" or "working in an unsafe and non-automated factory built character" as it is a parody of "uploadig your consciousness will turn you into an evil rogue AI" or "it would be wrong for a person to live forever through medicine"

A man discovers that one of his coworkers is actually a space alien (or hollow earth creature, or demon, or angel, or other cryptid) living covertly on Earth for one reason or another. Further investigation reveals another acquaintance to be an alien (or whatever), but from a completely different planet (or whatever) from - and unaware of - the first one. This goes on, and it becomes clear that the vast majority of the population are different groups of paranormal beings, blending in with "humanity" mutually unaware of each other's existence; and it is unclear if there is even any significant quantity of humans left at all, or just different groups of aliens fooling each other

goddamnit! I just came across almost this exact same idea in a Discworld novel that predates my version by a good 18 years.

And apparently I now see the Twilight Zone episode "Will the Real Martian Please Stand Up?" did it decades before even that

Everyhero: A superhero whose origins are that his parents were murdered by radioactive spiders while arranging for his escape from their doomed planet with some space pirates and in the process he was exposed to radiation that caused him to turn into an unstoppable rampaging monster whenever he fely strong emotions so he sold his soul to the devil in exchange for limiting this transformation to only happening at night and in the presence of evil, and as part of this transaction also acquired a cool stone hand from Hell

Mockumemtary about a researcher who, disappointed with the arbitrary placement of the date of Christmas, is using "reverse astrology" to determine the true birthdate of Jesus (determining his date of birth by extrapolating backwards from his known fate and birthplace). Ancient Persian astrology is used where possible as that is what the Magi would have used. This could also be played straight and made into a documentary on the History channel or H2, as those networks seem to be mostly speculative fiction these days.

[Rococo Modem Basilisk]

In the future, wars are fought by psychokinetics in sensory deprivation tanks controlling large humanoid puppets. The psychokinetics are rare, and puppets are used because the human-like body plan makes them easier to control, however, the plan is worthwhile because they are cheaper than tanks, basically disposable, remote-operated, and impossible to jam -- furthermore, a team of five or six elite psychokinetics can control an army of skyscraper-sized puppets by themselves, if given the right drugs.
