The mute scion of a twisted aristocratic lineage builds hand-crafted porcelain dolls and transfers people's consciousness into them. The daughter of the policewoman investigating the rash of people falling into vegetative states discovers that she is a sensitive telepathic receiver, as she hears the cries of these transferred consciousnesses -- who are alive and immortal but cannot move and have no senses, trapped in darkness. She must convince her mother to follow the clues revealed to her in violent recurring dreams, and later visions.

A time traveler stops the holocaust by traveling back to Germany between the wars with a bunch of modern designer drugs and getting everyone hooked on them so that all of their ridiculous and toxic concerns about race and nation are replaced by harmless and relatively prosocial concern about where their next fix will come from

A famously paranoid & misanthropic businessman who kept his money in a safe rather than a bank died alone, and his body wasn't discovered for weeks. After its discovery, a will is found indicating that the money in his safe & his other belongings should be distributed to the people of the surrounding town physically (something that probably came out of his distrust of his estranged children, rather than love for the area). It is discovered that his money and belongings are all haunted by the man, who tries to possess their owners & turn them into cutthroat businessmen -- the money they made became, itself, haunted. Elaborate money-laundering schemes are initially attempted, but in the end it's decided that this wouldn't work -- and a massive pile of cash and expensive furniture is burned in a bonfire in the center of this poor town. (Maybe call this The Invisible Hand.)

Some sort of story (or possibly a Borges-esque pseudo-academic-paper) based on the idea that there is only one soul that moves backward and forward in time between reincarnations like Feynman's single electron hypothesis. It gets sent back to primitive bible times after lives of wickedness and forward to future utopias after good lives.

Eastern europe, romani.

In china they leap like fleas. In malaysia their heads detatch and fly around but drag their whole digestive system along. But movies have been made about both of those variants. (There are only two movies I'm aware of about the variation where vampires prey only on blood relations -- the Werdelac segment of Black Sabbath & the romanian film Strigoi.)

There's also a variant that's a blood-sucking rotting banana person, which might also be malay but I'm not sure.

Plus there's always the vampire watermelons.

How about a superhero film told from the perspecrive of a non-superpowered uninvolved bystander caught in the chaos of the fight against the supervillain. It turns into a sort of Cloverfield-esque horror situation.
