So, comment people. Let your hate and insanity spew out.

It's funny.  I spend almost all my time indoors, and yet, I've never been inside.

I was never been in the group that stuck signs on peoples' backs and I was never been in the group that took them off again.  I had a few stuck to me, of course, but there was never any follow-through.

I was never in the group that went to dances and football games, and I was never in the group that wore trenchcoats and planned to blow them up.  I knew people in both, kinda.  Talked to them, anyway.  I was never in the group that got straight A's and I was never in the group that flunked.  I was never with the cynics and I was never with the hippies and I was never with the class clown.  I was there, but not with them.

I was in church, but I never raised my voice.  I was in school, but I was hardly ever silent.  I asked so many questions.  I wasn't in pictures and I wasn't taking them.  I was in the car at the family reunion, reading a book.

But I saw it all.  I saw people everywhere.  I saw children, kids, teenagers, young adults, all around me.  I wasn't inside, so sometimes I even saw me seeing them.

This is what I remember from what I saw:

Youth is beautiful.
"OTOH, I shook up your head...I must be doing something right. What's wrong with schisms?  Malaclypse the younger DID say "Discordians need to DISORGANIZE."  If my babbling causes a few sparks, well hell...it beats having us backslide into our own little greyness." - The Good Reverend Roger

Huh. Remarkably similar to my situation. Ha.

Been there, or at least somewhere similar. Maybe I'll find my "edge of madness" rants and post one.

P3nT4gR4m is riding the correct motorcycle. If you're floundering in a haze of confusion about why you're doing anything at all and bewildered by the apparent meaninglessness of it all, that's because you haven't gotten the punchline yet.

All the explanations of life's purpose that might have seemed right in the past feel fake and hollow now because, in a sense, they are. A better way to put it, though, is that all of those explanations of purpose are made up by the people living their lives. Life does not have an inherent, objective purpose (at least, not one we can ever really know); it has whatever meaning we give to it. Frankly, I think that makes it much more interesting.

So, to get rid of that uneasy feeling of meaninglessness, just change your standard for "meaning." A purpose in life which you made up yourself is the best you're going to get, so why bother getting hung up about it?

LMNO

Good rants, Dr James.

When you can't decide if the sound coming out of your mouth is laughter or screams, you've almost arrived.

What is the meaning of life. That was the gospel i intended to scream when i first stumbled here (2004-2005 maybe). Not too long after i found discordianism. It was something of my own i wanted to share with everyone. I watched the pinealists get hammered to the ground and didn't feel like getting the same treatment. So i thought it was best to lurk for a while.. That while has lasted. I have made few posts but i'm still that lurker. Don't think that i've ever made an introduction, i dont remember. Guess i figured i could slip in through the backdoor. That's been my strategy in life. Being the quiet guy. It has worked but with a cost. I can't express myself and it's eating me. Painting brings relief but it's bullshit if i wont get understood. Realizing that i've been a passive-aggressive shitbag instead of just polite/nice/considerate is.. well it sucks. That's why everything fails. Funny enough this sudden "enlightenment" is partly thanks to Atlas Shrugged, which i was afraid to start reading for some reason(becoming a randoid.starting to see a pattern here..).
Now is this a moment of madness or sanity, i don't know. Damned if i hit 'post' and damned if i don't..

"What?" is the meaning of life.

Fixxed.

You're welcome.

The meaning of life if whatever the hell I want it to be.

Yours is the same.

That's a big responsibility. It can be daunting at first but keep at it. It's liberating. Like Jehova's kid said - "The truth will set you free"

Freedom is a scary thing for an animal that's spent all it's life in a cage but the fear passes.

Then the fun begins...

I get that. The problem is I don't know what I want it to be. Figuring it out so far has been a bitch.

That's never the easy bit. And not something I think any of us can help you with without sounding like a guidance counselor, as it's very individual.

No real need to decide. Try out a couple of options. See how you like them.

Some of my best meanings of life have been decided on a whim and abandoned half an hour later
