Thanks for the clarification. Pretty sure they were Romanians though Im certain I heard them refered to as Roma at one stage which would seem to be incorrect.

I'm pretty sure there are more Roma (Gypsies) in Northern Ireland than there are Romanians. 

Romania is part of the EU, many Romanians seeks jobs in Western Europe, and the prevalence of English in international media makes the UK a top choice destination.
