Are you serious? Please explain to me how his ability/inability to write music wouldn't effect his opinion? I think my opinion of, say, the A-bomb may differ depending on whether on not I'm in the blast radius. Honestly, it may not make a huge difference, but it'll make a difference. Let's not be silly...

Fair enough, but even then, my opinion of the A-bomb would most likely be different if I had built one than what my opinion is now. Being inside it will give me a different viewpoint. Whether or not that makes a more or less developed or accurate opinion is arguable, and for the sake of this conversation, doesn't matter. The only thing I was trying to say was that involvement in something will have a different effect on opinion. I never said that people that don't write music have a no place having an opinion on, or appreciating music, but it will be on a (at least slightly) different plane (at least in most cases).
