ok what I just wanted to mention, what we learned from the AWS:OM project, which was also a competitive game with the participants divided up into teams, and they had to create fake news stories for disinformation and spread them:

before the game started, we had a few test runs with all the participants, I think we all worked together, brainstormed some and somehow created 3 fake news stories, injected them into the blogosphere, and 2 of them were successfully picked up by other media and created more buzz, you could even say one of them went viral! (what the third, failed story was I forget )

anyway, so that was a huge success.

after that, we divided into teams, and got brainstorming on how to spread disinfo.

that was when everything broke up, there were not enough "leaders" to draw the teams, and nothing much really happened anymore.

so, in that respect, even though I like the idea of discordian olympics, if you want a project like this to be a big international success, maybe it's got a better chance if you make it cooperative, rather than competitive.

that's my idea.

Humm Yeah, I got your point, but I think there're a few differences between the two projects;

First, the teams are naturally divided: each one represents its city, and there's a thing that happens here (at least) which is: if you find a discordian in your city, then it's fun to meet and hang out, so usually people know the others nearby, which makes the part of teaming up less complicated.

Also, the fact that Rio de Janeiro team or Sao Paulo team may have more people than my city or others such as Salvador, Vitória, putyourcityhere doesn't necessarily mean disadvantage. Sometimes they don't find much time to do things, and also a good idea doesn't need a big group to breed.

Furthermore, we don't mean this to be public, hit the media or anything; for us it'll be a great success if lots of people come in and play - and international if lots of people from different countries come and play EAHeahaeHaehae =)

I like the idea, though as pointed out earlier people are lazy, plus they may not have a lot of time at some points, so having a big time frame would be good. I think I may need to recruit some people.

Also I don't know of any discordians in my city.

Hell, I only know of four others in the Netherlands, Regret, Agrippa, Lady Purpleris and a friend of mine that lives kinda far away.

Although there were about 20 people on the Dutch Discordian Hyves group (like a facebook group) last time I checked. I should see if any of them live near me, funny I never got the idea to check that

Also, Regret, we should pimp that hyves group! It is boring and fail and we should fill it with goodies and bring the funk. Or hell, perhaps even start a Dutch discordian forum? I know some more cool people that might be interested, even though they wouldnt call themselves discordian, much.

Hyves itself is so incredibly fail holding discussions there is going to annoy me to no end. I think the best thing we can do for the Discordian hyves is to just fill it with (perhaps translations of) essays, rants, links to poster PDFs, Intermittens and all that. Most of that shit eventually leads to PD.com anyway
