a vector image is one that can be scaled to any size.

In a JPG, the file contains the coordinates of every splotch of color. In a vector image, the file contains the basic relationships between all the points so it can change size without losing resolution.

http://www.says-it.com/ we've used this logo generator before to do some cool stuff, but it can't output to vector. You usually need a special program to make vector graphics.

Okay, thanks I'll see what I can do with those.  The program I run with the kids has never had a logo, at least, not one I can find anywhere.  We're going to order these backpacks to give away at this years trainings in the woods.  But, I need to come up with some kind of logo-thingy to put on the front.  The company has offered to design one for me but I think I want to take a crack at it first.  I'm a control freak like that.
