Rice is pretty cool... I've read the vamp novels up thru (Interview, Lastat, Queen, Body Thief) Memnoch the Devil, and they were all pretty good (or excellent). After that, the armond/pandora stuff I haven't read, my friend told me they were kinda going downhill, and I've been reading other things. Merrick has been on my shelf for 2 years, I haven't touched it.

Outside the vamp stuff, I have it on good authority that the Witching Hour/Lasher/Taltos trilogy was really good, but I haven't gotten around to that one myself.

Finally, if you're a demented pervert, you might want to pick up her Sleeping Beauty series, published under a pseudonym that I can't recall atm. They were... um... well, demented and perverted.

All I knew, all I believed
Are crumbling images
No longer comforting me.
Scramble to reach higher ground,
Order and sanity,
Something to comfort me.

I take what is mine, and hold what is mine,
Suffocate what is mine, and bury what's mine.
Soon the water will come
And claim what is mine.
I must leave it behind,
And climb to a new place now.

This ground is not the rock I thought it to be.

Do you believe
In the lies, the lies, the lies that shape your world?
Do you believe
In your own, your own, fictitious immortality?

The world won’t end while you walk the earth
And when you realize that your life don’t matter
You’ll turn to something to help you forget
That you’re only young once, old forever

And we become what we hate
(Don’t think of us)

I thought that was the name she wrote the romance novels under... thought it was like R N Rouquette or something long and unpronouncible like that....

Some of her older stuff is real good. Interview and Lestat are the best, but Blackwood Farm was so boring >.<;;;
