The idea that there is no more indie music is really silly.  Yes, alternative was co-opted, any counter culture will be if it gets big enough,  But with the internet and file sharing there is more accessible independent music than ever before.   Just like the mainstream most of it is shit, but that doesn't mean there isn';t enough good and even great out there for you to be able to listen to nothing but good indie music whenever you choose to listen to music at all.
