Yup, it seems that  we do indeed have a book cabal.

Haven't read "V"yet, although I love Pynchon's work.
I second this suggestion, Maxwell.

Cool.

If we all want to read it Ill do a post with 'why I chose this book' pose, and supply web links to sites with pretty diagrams and pictures of Mr Pynchon from his highschool days..

I'm about halfway through with "V."

Is anyone else reading it? If not, that's okay cuz the book is still cool.

Personally, I'd suggest Good Omens by Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman (if only because it's what I'm actually reading at the moment :P), but it seems like Bella is going for V.

Another suggestion from me would be The Athenian Murders by Jose Carlos Somoza. A lovely mind-fuck book in a greek setting. I can't reveal anything about the book, as that would spoil it, just believe when I say that, not only is there more than meets the eye...there's ALOT more.

What's that? You're surprised? Is it because, against all logic, I am burning my hand?!

It also messed up the way I read books like how Memento messed up the way I watch movies and TV.

I'm all for reading anything by Neil Gamen. :P

But, yes...I'm going for "V." at the moment.
Mostly because once I had it in hand, I didn't have the patience to wait and see what everyone else wanted to read and discuss.

My dad says that we have copies lying around, by he doesn't know where.

My house probably has around 1000 books. About a half of those are about WWII or Ancient civilisation in some way or another.

We also live in quite a small place, so it gets crowded. Behind my computer there are 4 shelves full of books, and behind me there are 4 more. My computer table only has two books at the moment, both by Terry Pratchett (in fact, they're the only two Terry Pratchett books I own, Good Omens and Small Gods).

I librarian would either orgasm at the number of books in a private home, or have a heart attack at their utter lack of organisation.

Your house sounds about right to me. 8)
Books=riches.

The house I live in is really tiny and there are books everywhere.
There are twelve shelves of books in the living area and half the kitchen cupboards are stacked full of books.
My big old antique trunk that holds a couple of hundred more.
I have a lot of the classics, plus dark fantasy, mystery, ancient civilization, philosophy, art, psychology, the occult and magic.
I keep all the magic and tarot books in one spot because I need them for work.
The rest would give your imaginary librarian a second heart attack because they aren't organized at all.
