Because my spag-ass doesn't know how to use anything but MS word and I need it for something I'm working on. Something cool, but preferably free (by preferably, I mean mandatory). I found a few in my voyages, but couldn't get any of them to work. Thanks.

Use word-art, select a regular font instead of the crazy arty things, and then rotate it by 180 degrees.
Q: How regularly do you hire 8th graders?
A: We have hired a number of FORMER 8th graders.

If its for a poster, just cling it to the wall upside down.  :|

But if he wants both upside down and rightside up words on the same poster, that won't work.

make the poster in two files and make one file with the rightside up letters and the other with the upside down letters.
step 2 is the hard one: figure out how to feed paper to your printer in the right way to get your desired result.

if you're using Word - word art is the answer

the other answer is typing the text into MS Paint or something, flip vertical, save. Then insert into doc.

Then: 180 rotate
Or: [ whatever an upside down matrix looks like ] makefont

You're saying

[ 0 0 1 ]
[ 0 1 0 ]
[ 1 0 0 ]

and according to section 4.3,

[ a b 0 ]
[ c d 0 ]
[ x y 1 ]
-> [ a b c d x y ]

Thus, I redact the makefont suggestion.

I normally just put the paper in the printer upside-down.

btw I found these by GOOGLING for UPSIDE DOWN FONT and CLICKING the LINKS, READING them and FOLLOWING some that seemed RELEVANT

anyway

http://www.webfontlist.com/pages/font.asp?font=11681 haven't tried, but from a screenshot I found somewhere I see that the baseline is fucked. But if you're willing to live with that ..

http://home.comcast.net/~somethingextree/UpsideDown.ttf also didn't try.

http://www.fontspace.com/casa-phunk-phonts/blufunken-side-a (lowercase letters are regular, uppercase is upside down)

http://www.searchfreefonts.com/font/upsidedown-jj.htm this one looks pretty good, nice clean readable.
http://www.searchfreefonts.com/font/upsidedown-toc.htm similar, but serifed.

ok this should get you started. if you want to look for more, do it yourself: http://www.google.com/search?num=100&q=upside+down+font :)

btw you said you had trouble getting them to work. just in case you don't know, you install a font by copying (or drag'n'dropping) the .TTF file to the directory c:\windows\fonts or it could be c:\windows\system\fonts it kinda depends on which windows you have, but it needs to be in the fonts directory. then you restart Word, and you can use the font.

Hey, thanks a bunch guys! I haven't had time to try any of your suggestions yet, I just wanted to pop in to say I appreciate the (hopefully) helpful responses.

I will be using both, upside down and right side up lettering, I probably should have clarified that.

I'm not sure if I'm at a high enough level to work that incantation yet. Hell, maybe I'm just not high enough...

000-Thanks, but my guitarist just gave me a crash course in installing fonts (I know, I'm a total spag). I will check out the stuff you linked to, though. Thanks a lot.

I think I'm going to have to get my hands on MS paint, eventually though... I'll let you guys know how I made out. Thanks again.

MS Paint comes with Windows. It's in the Bureau Accesoires / Zubehör folder in the Start Menu (damn I can't for the life of me remember what it was called in English, heh. It's the same folder that the Calculator and Notepad are in.

It's called just "Paint", btw.
