TESTEMONAIL:  Right and Discordianism allows room for personal interpretation. You have your theories and I have mine. Unlike Christianity, Discordia allows room for ideas and opinions, and mine is well-informed and based on ancient philosophy and theology, so, my neo-Discordian friends, open your minds to my interpretation and I will open my mind to yours. That's fair enough, right? Just claiming to be discordian should mean that your mind is open and willing to learn and share ideas. You guys are fucking bashing me and your laughing at my theologies and my friends know what's up and are laughing at you and honestly this is my last shot at putting a label on my belief structure and your making me lose all hope of ever finding a ideological group I can relate to because you don't even know what the fuck I'm talking about and everything I have said is based on the founding principals of real Discordianism. Expand your mind.

I usually hate it when people say something was (adjective)-ly something, rather than formulating the sentence without the "-ly" on the end of their adjective. It almost always sounds like bad high school fiction.

Those homophones had it coming, seriously.

Those homophones had some serious coming-for?

Those homophones had it coming for them in a serious manner.
"I'm guessing it was January 2007, a meeting in Bethesda, we got a bag of bees and just started smashing them on the desk," Charles Wick said. "It was very complicated."

NOW, IT IS TIME FOR SERIOUS QUESTION, YES?

HOW IS HIMEOBS FORMED (on your tongue)?!?!

Also, fuck all you haters. I love all the words in this thread. I love the misuse of words, the mispronunciation, the over exposure of hackneyed cliché and meaningless constructs, the sheer laziness of some people in making their animal like grunts.

Language is a tool, people. Like all tools it can sometimes be ugly as fuck, especially in every day life, and sometimes you will be used by apprentices and very poorly trained tradesmen. How they grunt is never and should never be as important as what they are trying to grunt at you.

"He  May Obs"

Say it like the Japanese "-hime" suffix, denoting "princess" (v. rough translation).  Obs as in Obstetrician.

Anyone ever think about how Richter inhabits the same reality as you and just scream and scream and scream, but in a good way?   :lulz:

Books on conversation analysis/language, interaction and culture:

Anything by Allesandro Duranti, Elinor Ochs, Marjorie Goodwin, Charles Goodwin.  I worked with these folks while at UCLA.  Even better, Wallace Chafe or John DuBois, and I worked with those fellows at UC Santa Barbara.

Harvey Sachs also had the seminal works, but he died long, long ago.
