Today, for a brief second, I thought of a life without Roger. It was much like my current life, except that this forum was a bit nicer.

I'd like to redefine a word.

If you get to redefine a word, we all do. It's only fair.

In that case I'd like to redefine "turd burglar" as someone who breaks into your toilet and steals your best poomp

Well in this case its not really redefining a word, since Spirituality seems to be pretty interpretable anyhow.

I'd like to claim Cancerous Poop as my own. The shit that gets into you spreads and your never the same again

I'll redefine "ross" to be a shade of pink, the colour of a recently bleached anus.

Sounds a lot like the NA definition I grew up with: "Spirit" as somewhat synonymous with "essence".

"Essence" meaning what? Either spirit or essence, I don't think either exists as I know the meaning of the words (here's my Buddhist influence coming through).

Essence meaning semen.  Not to jump on the bandwagon, but brotherhood negative data via fluctuating output of dynamite when obfuscating wretched smiling immigrant aristocrats.  Single tire workings over hard lamp holes instead of screw post hanging trivial glass mongers.  Whilst green.

Kai, I get the hesitation to reclaim words.  A friend of mine likes to joke that he resents homosexuals for using rainbows as their symbol because the "stole refracted light."  But spirituality needs to be taken back from the trying-too-hard-to-be-unique crowd.  I don't believe in anything, but I feel like there's something more than the tangible.  I can't say spiritual because it's too closely associated with those I wholeheartedly disagree with.

Or I'm drunk.  Fuck me Laphroaig cask strength is sneaky.

I was drunk-ish when I wrote the OP too, so no worries.

I simply don't think that spirit and spirituality should be allowed to remain only the domain of those who believe in the supernatural. Theres a whole realm of interesting and exciting human experience out there to be explored, and meaning and purpose are definitely available to those of us who don't believe or disbelieve in gods, working with what Tom Montag calls "no ideas but the things his hands could touch, or those his eyes could find at great distance...or close at hand, beneath his feet."

Similar, if essence means that which your personal interpretation of the human experience boils down to. :)

Not human experience so much as individual experience, yes. And of course there is also the larger sense of species experience.
