I pity the fools who don't watch it.

Concentrate people.  We are not talking about tomatoes.  We are talking about the unmitigated win of a live-action movie based upon that loveable comic character Marmaduke.  Do try to ketch-up!

I looked up the trailer. http://www.slashfilm.com/2009/12/21/marmaduke-movie-trailer/

The complete and utter failure of it to engage or interest me at all in the subject matter contributes to its win.
My god! It's like Garfield the Movie mixed with Beethoven plus the theme song from The OC. This could very well be the worst movie ever.
You cannot fathom the immensity of the fuck i do not give.

I just want to know where they tested this thing.  Who did they show it to?  Does anybody even read Marmaduke?  It is easily one of the most boring, vanilla comic strips in history.  And they thought it would translate into an interesting movie?

You know, I have a habit of reading most of the comics in the Indianapolis Star every day. It's just something to do while I eat dinner at work. I open the paper and read all of the comic strips except for a select few (Cafe con Leche, Cathy, Rex Morgan, etc.) Because of this I have probably read 80% of the Marmaduke comics written in the past 3 years. And I cannot remember a single one of them. Not a single frame. Not even a punchline. How do you make a movie out of that? It would be easier to do a Mallard Fillmore movie (starring Glen Beck!)

Oh wow, it comes out even the same month as the A-Team film.  I bet you could watch both, back-to-back.

2010 is really turning out to be a cinematic tour-de-force year, between Marmaduke, the A-Team, and the Insane Clown Posse western: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x8uOzokYX1A
"I'm guessing it was January 2007, a meeting in Bethesda, we got a bag of bees and just started smashing them on the desk," Charles Wick said. "It was very complicated."

Cain

It gets better.

Red Dawn, Clash of the Titans, Resident Evil: Afterlife, Wall Street 2, Highlander, Predators, Shrek Forever After, Sex and the City 2, Tron Legacy, Eclipse (Twilight), Toy Story 3, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hollows Part 1 and Iron Man 2 also suggest this summer is going to be awesome.

(Actually, Iron Man 2 may be alright.  Not brilliant, but passable)

Homegrown tomatoes are yummy.

Store bought tomatoes are icky and contain flounder genes.

That is all.

fixed for extra ickiness.

also, what's a "Marmaduke"?

You are not going to thank me for this.

That and Toy Story 3.  I have a soft spot for the Pixar movies.  They really do that medium justice, IMO.

I always confuse Dreamworks and Pixar. Who does Ice Age? I like Ice Age. Even the sequels are just pretty damn simple fun.

I loved Shrek, but was disappointed by the sequels. Toy Story is too long ago and I haven't seen the sequels.

I'm waiting out for Iron Man 2. I loved the first part, the arrogance of the main character :) It will probably not be brilliant or anything, but good fun with big explosions, helicopters and tits coupled with sarcastic oneliners ... Damnit, why did Vin Diesel's last movie had to suck so bad? :(

Predators sounds so bad, I'll probably have to get it too.

Ice Age is Dreamworks, I'm pretty sure.  Pixar is Monsters Inc., Finding Nemo, Toy Story and WALL-E

Toy Story 3 may be OK, but really, the fact so many sequels and remakes and comic books are coming out yet again just shows no-one in Hollywood is prepared to take any sort of risk at all, or even remembers how to write an original script.   I mean, seriously, I understand the same tropes and themes will be prevalent to most films of similar genres, but come on.

Incidentally, Iron Man 1 was mostly so awesome because half the time a script wasn't even being used, and they just made it up as they went along.

Triple Zero

Yeah absolutely. It was really apparent with Avatar, IMO. Huge leap in technology, they simply couldn't risk anything, so they  took the most trite cheese story ever.

why did I have to youtube for dumb avatar vids?

Repost but relevant:
- So the New World Order does not actually exist?
- Oh it exists, and how!
Ask the slaves whose labour built the White House;
Ask the slaves of today tied down to sweatshops and brothels to escape hunger;
Ask most women, second class citizens, in a pervasive rape culture;
Ask the non-human creatures who inhabit the planet:
whales, bears, frogs, tuna, bees, slaughtered farm animals;
Ask the natives of the Americas and Australia on whose land
you live today, on whose graves your factories, farms and neighbourhoods stand;
ask any of them this, ask them if the New World Order is true;
they'll tell you plainly: the New World Order... is you!
