I saw a tall boy of something called Żywiec tonight that was only 3 bucks at the bar. So it has to be cheap in the stores if you can find it.
They were calling it "the Polish PBR".

Never had it, but it looked worth a try.

IMHO - the only true, really real valid choices should be available in all of the following:  30 Pack (12 oz cans), 4 or 6 pack of 16 oz cans, 24 oz cans, and 40 oz bottles.

Zywiec is really damn good.  It's a completely smooth and drinkable session beer without being weak.  They make a porter as well that's decent.  Plus they have a sticker that appears when the beer is of "appropriate drinking temperature" and they did it years before Coors.

Hey, I thought the Yeungling/Nastygansett suggestions were appropriately cheap beer.  I disagree with your estimation of PBR though.  It's really surprisingly not terrible for its cheapness.
