Yeah, :lulz: was originally "laughing at stupid people", and now it's "laughing".  And :mittens: was originally "your writing has owned the fuck out of <insert person, viewpoint, etc>, and now it's "I enjoyed your post, but I am too lazy to write a response."

I use them in the way that you describe because the lol emote sucks (as its upper lip reminds me of the alien as it is staring down sigorney weaver), and mittens are significantly more convenient than actually writing down "i enjoyed your post, but i am too lazy to write a response."  if i didn't use the emote, i would still feel compelled to compliment, but it would be something approximately as convenient, just less PD idiomatic....

Again:  Enki fail comment < Nothing < mittens < comment < run it right back at the poster with a rant of your own.

Better than nothing.

Because I had to.

However, in honesty my edit seems to hold truth.  We've already said that a good post with a bunch of mitten comments isn't a fail fluff thread.  It's when, if I spent a thousand words writing about the primate political system and then used Adam Lambert as as throwaway metaphor, the entire thread goes the way of "LOL, American Idol sucks".

Your correction is duly noted.

Also, yes, PD is just as bad as anywhere else about taking a minor point or example and running away with it.

If people are going to make snarky comments on people's posting style and drinking habits, maybe they do need a special elite forum.

I would totally not be opposed to that.

Hey, I haven't changed my habits since that whole thing started.  I was ignoring him then, I'm ignoring him now.

And the alcohol/drugs thing has also been ongoing.  I drink, obviously.  And I am creative, I hope.  But I have found no corrolary between them -- in fact, I have found a negative corrolary: When I'm drunk, I think I'm creative, but the next day, it turns out I just suck.

It was a piece of helpful advice, is all.  Please don't turn this into something bigger than it needs to be.
For what it's worth, it was helpful advice.  and now that I don't have any alcohol in me, it is just as well that I didn't post it.

The main point that I needed to make is that tuning your environment towards a specific type of person that you want to help or free up is different than being elitist.  I don't see the OP as being elitist, I see it as expressing reasonable frustration that some out there are turning this forum into a comfortable home for Pinealist Mystics that happen to like the Discordian name and want it to feel all fuzzy and warm here.

That is not even remotely close to generating the type of chaos that blows the fuck out of your mind and makes you disoriented and thereby causes you to reorient and come up with new, creative, fantastic shit.  Unfortunately that process hurts and the shrapnel can be a bitch to dig out of your spleen, but having to do that sometimes is the only way I've found to stay sane.  My fucked up head can't stand what many consider normal otherwise.

So, my advice to anyone who cares: Get used to the shrapnel.  Just fucking live with it.  It hurts when your mind gets blown, if you do it right.  But it's a good kind of pain.  Trust me.  :fnord:

I think E.O.T is a wannabe pinealist, but I admit I could be mistaken.  Other than that, I guess i can't put a name to it.  TGRR not posting here has a profound effect on the board.  Maybe that's it.  Maybe him being missing makes it more warm and fuzzy.

On the one hand, being all pineal and erisian and getting into chaos magick and all that shit looks horribly appealing, and it seems like it'd be fun.  But I haven't seen how it's ever at all real, other than as a game to fuck with peoples minds.  So if that's what you're into, doing it for the mystical mind-fuck, i'm kool with that.  But i've learned to hate religion, and that feels too religious.

I love a good mental shakeup and reordering. I want it without the religion since the religion turns me off.

Pope Pixie Pickle

The erisian chaote mind-fuckery only works on yourself.

External effects are law of fives and lucky bastardry.

I have so much fun with that and my IRL pagan friends. Joining in with the occasional ritual means I sit and play devils advocate and expound the view of "the only effect any of this shit has is internal, deities are metaphor" I love my friends I do this with dearly, but a little trolling for the TFYS is fun, hopefully thought provoking and drives my best mate nuts. Especially when I tell her Homeopathy is full of shit 2 days after she went.

Funny thing is she listened to me.
