TESTEMONAIL:  Right and Discordianism allows room for personal interpretation. You have your theories and I have mine. Unlike Christianity, Discordia allows room for ideas and opinions, and mine is well-informed and based on ancient philosophy and theology, so, my neo-Discordian friends, open your minds to my interpretation and I will open my mind to yours. That's fair enough, right? Just claiming to be discordian should mean that your mind is open and willing to learn and share ideas. You guys are fucking bashing me and your laughing at my theologies and my friends know what's up and are laughing at you and honestly this is my last shot at putting a label on my belief structure and your making me lose all hope of ever finding a ideological group I can relate to because you don't even know what the fuck I'm talking about and everything I have said is based on the founding principals of real Discordianism. Expand your mind.

This is actually pretty useful, because I'm gearing up to illustrate a friend of mine's story.

Mangrove

Like how they simplified the anatomy. Good stuff.

(In fact, I'll show this to Mrs Mang as she paints but has tended to shy away from doing human figures.)

Remington

Whoa.

Sadly I am unable to draw (stick figures are about all I can do), but this is serious good stuff.

Still, this would be invaluable as a drawing resource.

True, practicing is real important. But I wouldn't have figured out all that anatomy stuff by myself. especially not the names of the muscles :) And the bit about "no neck actually means huge [looking up..] trapezius" was quite interesting, I hadn't thought of that.

You're right bout the formula thing. I used to draw a lot of cartoons, nothing realistic like this though (possibly cause I did not know about all those muscles), especially the first bit is really standard stuff for any cheap "how to draw cartoons" book you'd care to pick up at the cheap ramsjh (remaindered) / 2nd-hand bookstore. Those often leave out the anatomy stuff, well do they show some drawings but not even as detailed as this one picture.
I usually shy away from that sort of thing exactly because of the formula stuff, I don't want my drawings to look like someone else's. However, if you're just getting started, you learn, and with practice your style will deviate from whatever you started out to copy, anyway, right?

I've been copying lots of peoples formulas and they all help. my drawings are now only shit as opposed to atrocities.

Remember, kids - practice makes slightly less than awful.
