but....Gretchen Wilson.... my wife has given me permission to have a threesome with gretchen.....

Pop.

OK, confused here. I consider her very country. Not all tear in my beer stuff but not pop either.

So where do you stand on Chris Ledoux?

I don't.  It's rude to stand on dead people, and it gets all over your boots.

As a singer, though, he was tolerable.

Interesting. Look up Elizabeth Cook. If you like her you will have to order it though since no one stocks her CD's.

Eater of Clowns

There are a few comments on "real country" and how it's a dead genre in Crazy Heart.  I don't know country so I can't say how accurate it is.  Decent movie though, if you're interested.

EoC doesn't make creepy.

EoC makes creepy worse.

It's not dead.  It is, however, on life support.

Real country isn't considered marketable. Please see the front porch pickers unionated association for real country music.

Balls.  The ones I mentioned marketed very well.

It's just that they don't always CALL it country music.

T Bone Burnett has been drifting to mainstream country recently. Is he trying to get back on track?

Yep. I don't hold with Doks hardline stance completely. However when it comes to Big and Rich I puke.

Hey, Mr. Dismissive:

Listen to it first, ok?

I knew a guy in the army, used to listen to whatever "alternative" band was the newest thing going.

If the band became popular, you know, made a living at it he dropped them, as they had obviously "sold out".

Fact:  If you can't get a contract, either you're not good enough, or your style is too strange.  Real country music isn't strange, it's just fucking hard to do, and not many people can hack it.
