Black Rain: Footage from solar space probe tracking solar winds. Mindblowing.

I hate to be the retard in the room, but I didn't really get anything at all out of that video. Maybe a sense of "huh... neat. I wonder how I'm supposed to be interpreting this?"
"I'm guessing it was January 2007, a meeting in Bethesda, we got a bag of bees and just started smashing them on the desk," Charles Wick said. "It was very complicated."

It's raw footage of various views of the inner solar system. It's supposed to feel eerie or something.

OK. I understood what it was; I was just thinking maybe there was more to it that I wasn't getting.

I think you're supposed to marvel at outer space, break out in song, and then get high off your own solar wind.

I also have this hard to describe experience of understanding without words that I also feel when I'm around autistic people and some noise music.

Damn. I just liked the fukin video.

It's probably some miswiring in my brain or something, but it feels profound.

Assuming Kai is done being a douchebag, would you mind elaborating on why you liked it?

So, were the sounds natural sounds generated by, uh, space noise or  :?
Formerly something else...

Jasper

I think they are radio waves converted into sound.  Is that correct?

Bruno

That's what I thought, but it doesn't say.

I'll just go ahead and assume.

Because it is profound. It is incredible footage that shows something I never even knew existed.

I thought it was pretty cool, it just didn't kick off an emotional response and I figured I was missing something.

When I look up at the stars, I feel ENORMOUS. Better than feeling "horrible vastness".

You feel better than how you think I feel when I look at the stars.

:boring:

What next, would you like to measure dicks?

Dude, my girlfriend is a porn star. I don't need this shit.  :lulz: 8)

Dude, you're getting awfully close to sounding just like the way Lysergic used to sound. Don't do that.

Additionally, I agree with Net that it's pretty douchy to claim the way you feel when looking at the stars is somehow better than the way he feels when looking at the stars.

However, getting back on topic somewhat, I would be interested to hear how/why you feel enormous when looking at the stars? Seems very counterintuitive to me, with the stars being incredibly big and incredibly far away, and you, as a human, being incredibly tiny in comparison.
Or is it some kind of being contrary thing, like "hey universe, trying to make me feel tiny eh? well fuck that, I'm just going to feel enormous instead, hah!" ?

About the awesome video, I mostly got a feeling of pretty damn awesome from it. Not too specifically eerie, although it did really underline for me the fact that most of space is a pretty hostile environment, not good for life. The raw and unprocessed noisy video really made that point a lot clearer than I would ever get from the fake-colour processed shiny NASA gas cloud pictures that look like deep sea coral candy farts.

personally I was assuming it was just some kind of generative glitch ambient soundtrack. maybe partially based on radio waves, but if they didn't say they were, they probably aren't. if it were radio waves they'd have to be processed, unlike the video images, because raw radio waves would sound  very different I think.
it sounds like the ambient glitches are composed or synced to the video images, either manually or by some generative video to audio process, but I don't think you're hearing just raw space probe data.
