Fido.

Nobody names their dog Fido anymore, and that's kind of sad.

True. A friend of ours suggested Spot for the same reason.

I'm fond of the completely archaic English dog name: 'Towser'.

I think "Towser" originates from the Japanese Mastiff, or "Tosa" breed.

And all proper champion working Collies are called either "Fly" (pronounced "Floy"), or "Gyp".

They're still around, just hard to spot.

I always liked Spot as a dog name.

But then, the dog's gotta have a spot somewhere, otherwise it makes no sense.

But that might be kinda fun. Well, maybe at first when introducing the dog to someone.

Towser is an old English name and is related to the name Tozer. (I knew a kid with a last name of Tozer).

The word is related to the modern 'tease' as in 'teasing wool'. At the time it was felt that a dog's natural tendency to tear and pull things apart was not unlike teasing wool before it was spun thus, a dog was a 'towser'.

I always thought it was a fun name for a dog and then decided to find out where it came from. Ever since, I use the name 'Towser' as a generic term for any dog because it's ye olde & exotic.

Mesozoic Mister Nigel

I used to have a dog named Spot. He was rad.
"I'm guessing it was January 2007, a meeting in Bethesda, we got a bag of bees and just started smashing them on the desk," Charles Wick said. "It was very complicated."

I just had an idea, and now I want two puppies with inverted colors.  One will be Spot, the other will be topS.

I used to have a dog named Speckles.
Man I miss that little bastard. He was a Cocker Spaniel, fun as hell, loved mashed potatoes and made bizarre noises at the moon. Also used to get so excited to see someone, he would knock himself over.

This is the Doggie that I want.  Unfortunately they are illegal over here, in case they frighten old ladies. Or eat
unwanted visitors. Shame, because their temperament is gentle and very family friendly.  Good for hunting wild boar too.

I'd call him Tweeky, and feed him well, walk him twice a day, and teach him to pull drunks out of canals. (Before they drowned)
