I quit reading marvel when the brought Wolverine back after he had the adamantium sucked out of him by Magneto. I relapsed briefly for Age of Apocalypse, and Deadpool vs Cable, but in general Marvel is trashy and not worth reading.

Now I'm older, and I read pretentious indie comics, 3rd party comics, or oldschool pulp comics like Conan or Solomon Kane.

Its not a retcon if he dies and comes back in  the next issue, retcon implies a realization that it was a mistake and going back on it at a later date.

Besides his personality death (Batman RIP) was far more interesting and is still being delt with.

Blackest Night actually has been full of stupid exec bullshit, but its totally overshadowed by the awesomeness of LARFLEEZE.

Blackest night was awful. However its lead up The Sinestro Corps war was incredibly well written. I know Larfleeze is a popular new character but he brought slapstick humour to a story that was supposed to be bleak. In short they had no fucking idea what they were doing for that story.
But then, they never do for big superhero events.

tho I got the trojan war issue with eris, history series was done much better by archaia comics

That's what I like about DC's Vertigo series. They do absolutely blinding series'.
There's long running stuff, like 'Lucifer', 'Transmetropolitan', 'Jonah Hex', 'Unknown Soldier', 'Sandman', 'The Invisibles', the peerless beauty of 'Animal Man', 'Doom Patrol', 'Black Orchid', 'Shade, the Changing Man', 'The Books of Magic', 'The Books of Death', The stunning 'Seekers into the Mystery', and my favourite long runner, 'Hellblazer'.

Then there are the absolute classic short runs, like 'Tank Girl', 'The Minx', 'Girl', 'Industrial Gothic', 'Egypt', 'True Faith', 'Vamps', 'House of Secrets', 'Gangland', 'Kid Eternity', and classic one offs, like 'Kill you Boyfriend'.
And re-runs of classic Vertigo stuff like 'Swamp Thing'  'Moonshadow' & 'Sandman' mini series, like 'The Kindly Ones' 'A Game of You' and 'The Sound of Her Wings'

Volume two with the mother is one of the best comic stories I have read. The rest of the series was ok until the very end which just kind of sucked.
