BCC Headline on my RSS feed:

Freeman to to play Bilbo Baggins in Hobbit.

So, naturally, my first thought is

And I'm like "awww yeah, this film is gonna be AWESOME!"  But it turns out the BBC meant some other Freeman dude I've never heard of.

Surely WETA could've slapped on some super-duper make-up and special effects to make Ian Holm look the right age.  They did it for a flashback in Fellowship.  Or was Holm not interested?

Oh yeah. It's That Guy from the good version of The Office and the crappy version of Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. I guess he'd be pretty good as a hobbit.
You cannot fathom the immensity of the fuck i do not give.

Does anybody know anything about the New Zealand drama? Apparently there was a showdown and now he's looking for somewhere else to shoot it...

Media, Entertainment & Arts Alliance, which is a union based in Australia, was all "WE GONNA BOYCOTT YO SHIT". A whole lot of people decided that nobody should work on The Hobbit. Butthurt and confusion ensued. "Why is Australia in charge of our actors?", "is there still a boycott or have they cancelled the blacklisting of this movie?" All the industrial action has apparently stopped, and people are marching about with signs telling the producers to make the film here. Warner Bro's are all "we pretty much don't trust you guys anymore and are almost certainly leaving." Nobody understands why people who don't seem to have anything to do with the movie are appearing on TV and telling actors where to work or why the actors were listening (the actors are now complaining of misrepresentation by the union, but it's probably too late).
The Prime Minister is saying "please stay, guys. We'll give you tax incentives and stuff! We'll change the law!"

This is the latest on it, with related articles linked.

The problem is they've already built a whole bunch of sets and stuff in New Zealand, so to move it elsewhere will cause many delays (or many cut corners).
It's not trolling, it's just satire.

This is awesome the last I heard there was legal battles or something over the movie and it might not be produced at all.
