Does playing games waste your life? (youtube video)

I don't agree with this opinions and instead support cipher's views in the first matrix movie. "I think that the matrix can be as real as the real world." He frames playing games as such a waste, and it is if you quantify your life by how much you have created or possess, but you could say the same thing about reading books or watching movies. To me, playing games, watching movies, and reading books are all equally valid ways of enjoying life. It isn't a waste because of the simple fact that you get a happy memory out of it.

I feel a little inclined to reverse my opinion for people who spend their lives playing WoW and such, but then I remember my thoughts on morbidly obese people. You can think that they are wasting their lives, but if they really understood that eating so much all the time would cost them years of their life, and they still decided to do it any way because living in comfort was more important to them than constantly calorie counting, then I feel like they have a valid life choice. So I must conclude the same for people who spend their lives playing WoW.

The same cannot be said for the sad cubicle worker who works overtime every day thinking that he'll get promoted and never quits because he feels that he has invested too much in his work for a(n unachievable) promotion. I feel like most other people would have the complete opposite opinion: to say the WoW player or the obese person was the one wasting their life, and the overachieving (and miserable) cubicle worker was the one "contributing to society" and thus living the best life.

Anyways, not very discordian (or is it?) but I thought it might be a good video for TaS.

Well I will not argue that video games are substitutes for real life, but it sure is a good substitute to watching youtube videos.
