imagine how I feel when I need to cross the street?

cars and there dominance are insufferable.
I'm not crazy, I'm perturbed.

OB - I like your crossing the street experiment but we need to broaden the scope. Please to repeat in varying levels of traffic from dead of night, no cars present, right up to rush hour freeway.

Report back with your findings....

If you're so self-critical, then imagine what it feels like to be driving down the road when some insufferable shitneck steps into the fucking street in front of your car without warning.

I'm guessing that he holds the driver responsible.

How many city planning meetings have you been to where you suggested new traffic patterns/more crosswalks/more crosswalk signals?

I'm guessing the number is somewhere between -1 and 1.

I can have some sympathy with how car-centric American society is.  I understand the rub with that.  There are definitely cities and towns that are very un-friendly to pedestrians.

However, there are channels to address that.  And I will grant that even given the channels, change would be slow if it were to happen.

But one of those channels shouldn't be putting yourself, and others, at risk of harm.  When you make someone do a quick stop, it has the high potential of causing a massive pile-up and a decent amount of destruction and injury, and potential lethality.

Take it up with city hall, don't take it out on the people.

Given that I recently spent a couple weeks as an involuntary pedestrian while my car was in the shop, and that I'm making an effort to walk more when I can, I can understand being frustrated with traffic.  (More so since most people in Providence apparently don't own snow shovels, or can't be bothered to figure out the big end is supposed to scrape the sidewalk, and the recent warmings and re-freezings have rendered the sidewalks into skating rinks, making it actually safer to dodge traffic in the road than try to navigate the sidewalks.)

And, yes, sometimes it's a pain in the ass to actually have to walk TO the crosswalk, wait for the light to change, and go when it's actually reasonably safe to do so.

But, you know what?  If you want to take your life into your own hands, please feel free.  However, let's keep others OUT of your suicide attempts, shall we?

Hey Ob. Put down the shovel. Seriously. I've been making an effort to be nice. Don't make me waste all this pent up rage and hatred on you. I'm saving it for someone worth the effort.

Is the 50 post rule  still being observed? I know it takes a bit more effort to check postcounts out these days, but I just wondered if it was still a (mis) rule.
