This thread is for the logistics and planning of the Big Ass Discordian Meetup in New England, May 2011. Feel free to ask questions or make amendments, but please keep this thread free of random chatter so it's easy to find the info in it.

EDIT TO ADD: Gathering took place! Pix here: http://www.principiadiscordia.com/forum/index.php?topic=29348.0

Rough Schedule:
Friday, May 20th
Triple Zero and Kirchetorte arrive in New York

Friday, May 27th
Triple Zero, Kirchetorte, and Cramulus drive from Tarrytown NY to Providence RI for Beers.

Camping at: Suu, Richter, or Luna's house?

Optional: LARP in south CT

Saturday, May 28th
Check-In at the Stage Coach Inn.

Here is the list of "definites"

1. Me
2. Eve

3. Richter
4. Luna

5. Cuttlefish
6. Blight

7. Schwarzwälderkirschtorte
8. Triple Zero

9. Cainad
10.  Leln

Possibly: St Mae and Fox (Metaphorge)  DCup and her boything
Ducked Out: Mr & Mrs Squid, Ratatosk and Sjaante, Suu, Suu's BF

Additional people should probably stay at Captain Grant's, right nearby. Talk to me first, I bet we can negotiate a group rate. But we need to do this soon because it'll fill up fast as we approach memorial day.

Monies: The inn is $70 apiece for both nights. Cram is being a superhero and putting it on his card, so hit him with $$ ASAP! Paypal Addy: t a r g e t r e f AT yahoo.com (but without the spaces)

PLEASE NOTE: this rate may go up due to people flaking out at the last minute. We'll have to figure that out when we get there.

We will start a pool for foods and beers.

What are we doing on Saturday?

Meat. Grill. Maybe some dice. Shit, let's get a keg.
Suggestion: Beer is probably best handled by the boston or providence contingent, because liquor stores in CT will be closed Sunday/Monday. (we'll need to return the keg once we've drained it)

Sunday, May 29th

Hanging out at the inn.

Visiting spooky places in CT? (like Jesusland?)

Monday, May 30th (Memorial Day)

Checking out of the Inn @ 11 AM.

We'll probably have to come up with something to do after that.

Edit to remove suggestion, no longer needed.

My apartment can fit several people, as well, no parking for cars.  Got a futon that'll hold two, an oversized cot that'll hold one comfortably, two if you're petite and real friendly.  The papasan holds one very comfortably (I crash in it, myself, occasionally).  Also, floor space.

I like the Luna one. She is a good one.

My apartment can sleep 3-4.

It looks like Friday I may meet the Squids in Boston and get them down to Providence. Monday we could spag around Providence, everyone will be at the beach so the city should, for the most part, be quiet. I know I may have piqued some interest about HP Lovecraft's dead bits.

I plan on playing good host and taking both Friday and Tuesday off to help the travelers get to where they need to go within the Providence/Boston Corridor. So for those coming in through the NYC airports (There are 3) go through Cram for travel needs. For anyone flying into Providence Warwick (TF Green) or Boston (Logan), go through me. I fly a lot out of both airports, sometimes 3-4 times a year, so I know what bus or train to take and when to get to where.

DO NOT RENT A CAR. Between all of us there SHOULD be enough transportation, and driving in downtown Providence or Boston is guaranteed to make you sterile. Driving in New York City is guaranteed to cause prolapse. Richter, Luna, and I all live within walking distance of downtown Providence (Richter and I are technically considered downtown), and with downtown, comes the trains and buses, and I can get a Zipcar when we need extra wheels. PLEASE save your money (and your sanity.) People drive very differently here than they do in Florida and Ohio...but something tells me we're comparable to Europe...

Whoa--I hadn't noticed this thread yet, for some reason! Getting organized, awesome :)

I'll just edit and add stuff to this post, in order to keep things a bit clean.

I have to wait a couple of weeks before I can book anything.
But I'll edit this post when I eventually do.

edit- this is killing me, I have to say it.
I've driven in NY and the only drivers you need to be worried about are the ones with FL tags. I'll take a NY driver over one of these old men in baseball caps any day.

This past weekend I talked to the German exchange student living with the Z's. I told him that we were having visitors from the Netherlands and Germany, and he got excited. He said it would be nice to speak German again, he thinks he forgot how. LOL.

We can handle this. We'll just put Dimo on the Volvo's roof rack.

That's an awesome image, with him screaming at the other cars and holding on for dear life.

Im randomly diving in for a bit here to comment on drivers.
I live in south Florida.
Where speed limits and stop lights are more like suggestions.
I got a ride with my friend to the beach one day- 90mph in a 65mph zone, ran 3 red lights, and I don't know how many stop signs.
I can only imagine what driving in south America is like. (he moved here from venezuela a few months ago)
This is a distraction.
