Cool, I'm currently trying to learn about music theory myself. After having finally figured out where the distinction between black and white keys on a piano comes from[0], I am a bit more comfortable with this. I still prefer integer notation because it makes mathematical sense, which so far offers me more advantages than whatever convoluted reasons I've come across for making "staff notation" work the way it does.

For instance you can't play that six note whole tone scale you describe on a piano without half of the keys being black--okay the colour doesn't matter, but the fact that they're positioned differently "above/between" the white notes despite all having the same frequency pitch relationship is kinda stupid.

BTW you might enjoy checking out the Raven Spiral Guide, which is a relatively low-key (haha) practical introduction to music theory (without staff notation!). He mentions the whole tone scale on page 14 (though he calls it a 7-note scale because he includes the C'). Apparently it is used in the intro of Kraftwerk's song Spacelab, because of its "floaty" sci-fi qualities.

Incidentally the guy that wrote the Raven Spiral Guide appears to be a Discordian: he used Discordian dates for the versioning in previous versions, and the subtitle of the latest one I just linked is obviously a reference to the similar subtitle on the cover of the PD.

what a piece of crap, & music is exactly that , i do not listen to it MuCH
MOVING ON  to how to tune crap | its rather simple | use a tuning
tool | open the top | start on the High end > far right string | take wire
cutters AND cut all the black keys strings out | tune the high white to
whatever mutiply of 60 seams like she can reach say 80*60=4800 Hertz/Hurts

so simply rearange the equation to solve for A step size | not easy for me
as most af that area of my brain {Never mind
something like 4800=2400+(n*2400/6) with n at 6
OR just guess 2400/6=400Hurts each step so next lower string tunes to
