Comparing a tyrannical forum to an abandoned child isn't going to cut it. I was a years long member of MW, like so many others here and rather than "try to fix what was beyond repair" like so many others here I left. Yes, I was permabanned, but the thread I started that led to my ban was deliberate.

Roger, Cain and myself walked away from admin positions at Shadows board when he started the same thing. I was going to walk away from EB&G because of the same thing but the owner unmodded me first.

I guess what I am trying to say is, no, we can not understand your willingness to accept that kind of behavior under the guise of trying to change it. We are indeed not idealists, we are realists, a part of Discordianism I suppose. We try very hard to see things as they really are, not what we would like fo0r them to be.

I was just giving my reasoning.  That's simply how I feel.  I do understand the other side of it, but I don't agree.  I am horrible at giving up at things.  I'd rather stay on a sinking ship and try to fix the holes than abandon it to the depths.  Probably masochism on my part.  I do try to be a realist, but the idealist in me fights it and tends to win. *shrugs*  Your last post really helped explain why there is so much distaste of that choice on my part though.  Thanks again.

Ok, thank you for explaining clearly, I appreciate that.  To clarify, I've been at TCC since around 1996.  The modding practices have swung in both directions, getting consistently more moderate as the years went by.  Since I'm not going to show screen shots of the admin board there is no way for me to support my claims and I understand that people here will not believe with out proof.  I obviously look at the world differently than the people here.  I am an idealist and that leads me to continue to try and reach those ideals, not give up and leave when things swing against those ideals.  It would be easier to leave, but to me it would be the same as abandoning a child just because there are behavior issues.

Pixie:  I ranted in the pornography thread about censorship.  I don't remember what if anything I said specifically about the veggies on the main boards and I have no idea how to do screenshots.  ETA Thanks BabylonHoruv

At this point I really think I've said everything I can about why I do what I do.  You are all welcome to whatever opinions you wish to hold.

I am new to PD.  I like it, it's causing me to rethink some of my concepts.  Concepts that grew like a nasty fungus when my brain got lazy in places like TCC.  So I came here.  And every time Wyldkat posts here all I see is that someone just shat TCC on PD!!!    

By that logic, you and I are shitting TCC all over PD as well. You were more than happy to be one of the meek little peace keeper light and fluff types until you finally Woke Up^TM. You shitting on Wyldkat for being from TCC sort of stupid and counter-productive if you're just doing it to fit in with a new crowd instead of actually thinking for yourself. It's also stupid and counter-productive if you think of yourself as a kind and compassionate person - except for when there's a really bitchin' bandwagon to jump on.

In the name of full disclosure: my own case. I was convinced in the beginning of the drama I stumbled into that I could help reconcile PD and TCC. But TCC can't hack being called on its bullshit and PD refuses to water itself down to 'acceptable levels'.  Oil and water. So I threw myself into the gap, in small ways, until I got tired. This mostly consisted of trying to get various mods to come over to PD.com and read up on all the awesome shit that gets talked about here. Then I just made popcorn and watched. Then I started thinking. And stopped trying to have everything both ways. That's how it looked to me, anyway. Others might have another take.

I successfully got one of the Mods to come see how awesome PD is.  She thought it was so awesome that she's now joined up.

Now I'm not saying don't shit on her, we shit on everyone.  But shitting on her simply because she mods TCC and doesn't do so well enough to balance out the fact that most of the mods are complete asstards doesn't do anyone any good.
