Cuddlefish

Looking at a pile of ciggarette butts on the garage floor, started thinking about output. What's left behind.

See, all life on this planet (and others) is because some star died somewhere. It went through it's life fusing basic elements (Hydrogen, Helium) into more complex elements (Carbon, Oxygen, Iron) and then spat it all out into Her belly, where it cooled and congealed, making all the neat stuff, life included. The star's total output is huge, and it didn't even mean it.

What is output? 1.2 x 10^5 ciggarette butts? 3.1 x 10^4 fingernail clippings? 1 x 10^4 poops? That's all? (numbers are approximate)

Sure, have things, but things collected are not output. Things collected are accretions of other things' output. They can be nice, but are not your babies.

Sure, have thoughts. Many of them, it's nature to do so. Some thoughts are easy, like when am hungry. Some are more complicated. Sometimes don't at all, and let the Universe think of Cuddlefish. But thoughts are not output. They go when you go (as currently understood).

Words are output, though, not a fan of them. Like a still photo of a moving object. Maybe someday use them for something, but not now, don't think. In the meantime, fingernails and poo isn't cutting it. Someday will get old and die like the star. Someday you will too. What will your output be?

Maybe not even important...
A fisher of men, or a manner of fish?
