I heard you on MTV back in 2002
Lying awake intent at tuning in on you.
If I was young it didn't stop you coming through.  (Ooh ooh)

They took the credit for your second symphony.
Rewritten by machine and new technology,
And now I understand the problems you can see. (Ooh ooh)

I met your children (Ooh ooh)
What did you tell them?
Dubstep killed the rock 'n' roll star.
Dubstep killed the rock 'n' roll star.

Autotune came and broke your heart. (Oh ah ah ah oh)

And now we meet in an abandoned studio.
We hear the playback and it seems so long ago.
And you remember the jingles used to go.  (Ooh ooh)

You were the first one.  (Ooh ooh)
You were the last one.  (Ooh ooh)

Dubstep killed the rock 'n' roll star.
Dubstep killed the rock 'n' roll star.
In my mind and in my car,
We can't rewind we've gone too far
(Oh ah ah ah oh)
(Oh ah ah ah oh)

Dubstep killed the rock 'n' roll star.
Dubstep killed the rock 'n' roll star.

In my mind and in my car,
We can't rewind we've gone too far.
Autotune came and broke your heart
Put the blame on TGRR.

Ooh rock 'n' roll star.
Ooh rock 'n' roll star.
Dubstep killed the rock 'n' roll star.
Dubstep killed the rock 'n' roll star.
Dubstep killed the rock 'n' roll star.
Dubstep killed the rock 'n' roll star.

Dubstep killed the rock 'n' roll star. (You are a rock 'n' roll star.)
Dubstep killed the rock 'n' roll star. (You are a rock 'n' roll star.)
Dubstep killed the rock 'n' roll star. (You are a rock 'n' roll star.)
Dubstep killed the rock 'n' roll star. (You are a rock 'n' roll star.)

1.  I hate you for your youth (I remember that song debuting MTV, I was watching when that abomination came on the air).

2.  I hate you for corrupting the Buggles.

3.  I hate you for assuming dubstep could kill anything other than simple good taste.

All reasonable reasons for your hatred.  :lulz:

Christ. I remember the very first video ever played on MTV. I have hated young people ever since that fated day.

Christ. I remember the very first video ever played on MTV. I have hated young people ever since that fated day.

I was there for that, too.  I loved it, though.

Then they added commercials (until then, cable was paid for only by subscription).

Then they added "Remote Control", a cheesy game show.

That was basically the end.  After that, it's been "The Real World" (also responsible for every "reality TV" show ever since), "Road Rules", and any other excuse they could come up with for not playing actual music videos.

So I turned it off.

Years later, I tuned in, just to see if they ever played videos (this was just before Youtube took off), and they had something called TRL on.  That's when I decided that everyone under the age of 30 should be fed into a chipper, feet first.

Well, as a metal head growing up in the middle of nowhere, Maine.  MTV's Headbanger's Ball was the only way I could get any exposure to metal.  And 120 Minutes was pretty good too.  But yeah, once the reality TV stuff started showing up, the party was over.

And I've always enjoyed how prophetic MTV's first song was.  I've always loved that tune.

Dysfunctional Cunt

Life before MTV and video games.  When we actually OMG played outside.  With other children no less.

Eh don't get me started.  :argh!:
