Next she'll probably say that where she lives, elementary IS middle school.
Either that, or the kid is in accelerated classes.
But I don't think they'd bump a kid with those issues all the way up to middle school.

She's also said that he doesn't have an IEP.

Didn't she say it was too hard to get the district to do the IEP for her kid? But yet he is supposedly in middleschool at age 7.

An IEP is mandatory for either special needs or TAG-identified kids, the district can't refuse to do it. The teacher may put it off, but they can't just refuse to do it.

TAG = GATE in CA.

As an aside, every time someone brings up their children and difficulties with their districts, I mentally file away that stuff for when I have children. I just know it's going to be horrible.

The schools here are abominable. However, being an involved parent and not being passive about their education makes all the difference.

Exactly.

She says the funding isn't there for the teachers to sit with her DURING SCHOOL HOURS and fill out a form that's MANDATED BY LAW.

It's all so completely retarded. :?

Or, (and this seems highly farfetched) did they adopt older kids?

Could it be they're actually her husband's? How long they been together?

Cause she also says "Mind you I didn't have the boys at the time"--though it's unclear to when she's referring there.

She is justifying it by saying that she hasn't updated that page in over 7 years, and that also her six-year-old is in classes with middle schoolers.

Isn't there a limit that most schools will put on how far out a kid can get placed specially?  I mean, if he's Rainman (I forget the word), that would mean he might have social issues, but is pretty good with his brain.

But, like, putting a seven year old with middle school age kids is INSANELY stupid, because he has no peers, and will be fucked in the socialisation department for the rest of his life, adjust for hyperbole.

From what I understand he's in different grades for different subjects. Not just all middle schoolers all the time. I don't know if that makes it better or worse. But I think she said something about 3rd grade for one subject and 7th for another and stuff like that.

It sounds like a mess and makes me glad I don't have kids.

I just can't do it anymore. I don't care if WK is lying about having children or not. If she's lying than I can say I've interacted with a true and bona fide waste of space, and time/space. If not.. the whole thing is just sad, not lulzy to me at all. It's a mystery I can do without.

And I just can't deal with BH's sexual misadventures. I'm all for pushing my capacity for withstanding awful to the limit...but there's just some things I don't want to read, or visualize. Meanwhile, talking to lena is like talking to a wall with a broken mouth.

So, you guys have fun with that mess. I don't think WK will ever top that passive-aggressive thing. If she does, I will be happy to let you all dig though the awful and take the lulz as they come. Meanwhile, I need a shower.

Sounds to me like he's in a Montessori school.

I don't actually think highly of Montessori schools, academically speaking. The concept is good, the execution usually less so.

That is part of why he's being homeschooled.
