Your whole life was a choice that you've already made.

Before you descended from the astral plane and took corporeal form you laid out your whole life. You chose your parents, your relationships, your childhood trauma, your adult trauma. Free will means just that, you are free to live the life you want.

And look at what you choose:
Injury
Illness
Death
Rape
Loss

Does that seem harsh? Perhaps it is, but it is also a harshness you CHOSE to read.

Think for a moment about scar tissue.

Scar tissue occurs when trauma occurs. There are two healing responses to skin trauma, regeneration and replacement. Regeneration is when the skin grows back according to the genetic map exactly as it was before. Replacement happens when regeneration fails, scar tissue is grown based on the injury. BASED ON THE INJURY.

Your body and soul remember that trauma and it becomes a part of your identity. Even when every cell in your body has been physically replaced by another your body (and mind) chose to regrow that scar.

These things are the conscious effort of a soul who is still learning. You are here for one purpose: To learn. Sometimes those lessons are hard. Christians have a saying "God doesn't give you more than you can bear." and that is partially accurate, for a given amount of God. You are in control of your own destiny, you always have been. If you feel you have learned enough, if you truly have learned enough, there is nothing in this life that you cannot do or undo.

Always remember, when life is at its most challenging, this is a path you chose before you were born. Nothing in this life happens that you do not allow.

To my eternal shame this is a position I actually held in complete seriousness. If it wasn't for Discordia...

The worst part about this is that it is an attempt at offering a solution. People who hold this view have the intention of helping, not blaming. Road to hell blahblah. IF you are in control then there is a means to move beyond the trauma in your life. Which would be nice, I suppose...if it were true...or not severely fucked up way to deal with the bad things that happen in life.
