Man, remember being 15?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ehSURbG7cxA

One of the worst years of my life. I can't even tell you. As awful as things had been before, that was the year everything changed forever. Three concussions in rapid succession left me epileptic, only I didn't know it for years so I just thought I was strange.

Oh, and I met my first husband. LOL.

15?  Yeah, I remember 15.  Got my heart broken for the first time (and boy, did THAT suck), put up with endless crappy 80s music, had the bulk of the usual adolescent freakout all crammed into about 10 months, and had to endure people that thought Bobcat Goldwaith was funny.

15 sucked so much ass that I decided that the world was full of shitbags, and almost every piece of evidence I've seen since then confirmed that opinion.

Also, I was expected to take Nancy Reagan's anti-drug commercials seriously, which taught me that people are not only shitbags, they're idiots.  Again, subsequent evidence has confirmed by low opinions of the species.

The only funny or positive thing was hearing some general (Westmoreland, I think) commenting on the book 1884, something about how the dystopian society pictured in the book was desireable, as it would help us stand firm against the commies in Russia, and keep us free.

The positive part about that was that I learned how fucking ridiculous the world is, that someone that moronic could ever make general.  2 years later, I joined the army and was thrilled to learn that most officers are that dense.

Waking from childhood to find out that the world is a worse place than you ever imagined... what a coming-of-age!  :lulz:

Well, what of it?  Nobody should go to the grave without an unchipped heart, and all the other shit I saw and did made me what I am.  If it was taken away, I wouldn't be me.  I'd be some happy useless fart that worried about my portfolio and the brown family that moved in down the street would make me kind of uneasy, you know?  I wouldn't know where the food & the gasoline came from, and you wouldn't be able to make me look.

In short, I'd be another Pay'bucker that makes the world the way it is.  I'd be Coney fucking Island.

I have no regrets.

Good points, all. I'd rather have the damage and eyes wide open, even if it means I can't stop screaming.

The Truth is brutal, ugly, and vicious.

And it's one of the few things worth having.

Thanks, Roger, that kicked some dirt off some shit in my head.  Had to deal with the NYEX last night, been moody all day with the "wish I'd never met that asshole" thing.

You're right.  Part of who I am is because of the shit he's put me through.  And, it wasn't all bad, despite him turning out to be a shit.
